Can't abide Wes Anderson films. Just a series of quirky front and side shots accompanied by offbeat music. Ugh, all that quirk.

haha! and his films aren't even that quirky...just try-hards. John Boorman films are quirky.

Still, Grand Budapest Hotel is a solidly-entertaining 7/10. Ralph Fiennes is so charming in it.

Not quite sure how this works.

Jock = Scot = Mac

Mac is a matey nickname for Scots from non-Brit Anglos, I believe.

its far better than a 7/10, but its become even more hipster to slate anderson than it has to like him

I'm sure you said something before about it being hipster to disagree with you.

Now that is hipstery.

It's a 7/10, which is a decent rating in my book. Worth a watch, but the film is inconsequential, devoid of deeper meaning and the young supporting actor is bland (that's the 3 points it lost).

by that rationale all films only have ten points to them, and if not your rating system is flawed, as for inconsequential, its a film, chill out.

I don't find his films or this one devoid of meaning, in fact I find them very touching without being obvious in their heart string tugging. I have sensed that you hold modern film in contempt before anyway, such as when 'under the skin', a genuine attempt to break the mold, was mentioned, in which you reverted to the book version straight away, the safe haven of the hipster

5 films in the past 24 hours.

1. Taken 2 - decent

2. Non Stop - Acceptable

3. The Raid - Amazing

4. American Beauty - 'nuff said really, it is perfect and has a brilliant soundtrack.

5. Hawking - really good film this. Well worth a watch, forces home how horrific the onset of a Motor Neurone Disease is.
