Begin again , enjoyed it didn't think I would .
Read the book and found it pretty improbable, did the film handle the unlikely end any better than the book Jacky?Went to see Gone Girl, after reading the book. Didn't really enjoy it or find it that gripping if I'm honest. 4/10.
Starship Troopers now there's a blast, hilarious and loads of brilliant effects. Loved it!Robocop is a brilliant film. Too many people (ie my wife) take it on face value as a comic-book sci-fi film, but as with Starship Troopers, Verhoeven does satire so well.
Nope, not at all. Don't get me wrong I'm very hard to please with films for the most part, however I just didn't understand some aspects at all.Read the book and found it pretty improbable, did the film handle the unlikely end any better than the book Jacky?
If you study Murder 101 at Durham University it will apparently set you up for a career in it!Nope, not at all. Don't get me wrong I'm very hard to please with films for the most part, however I just didn't understand some aspects at all.

Spolier below in white text for anyone who has seen it.
Mainly how she can kill someone completely innocent in cold blood, yet absolutely nothing gets done about it. Also the ending still doesn't make any sense to me. He would stay with her just because she is pregnant, and since when did going to Uni make you a murdering genius?
This is such an underrated film.
I think many people just assume that it's a generic, cliched Hollywood special effects feature when in fact a lot of the over the top dialogue is done on purpose. Fantastic satire as you say.
Also considering it was produced in 1997, the special effects remain truly fantastic. A great example of how blending animatronics and models (whilst using CGI only when necessary to augment the physical effects) is more effective and dates far better than copious amounts of computer generated imagery.
"Naked force has resolved more conflicts throughout history than any other factor. The contrary opinion, that violence doesn't solve anything, is wishful thinking at its worst; people who forget that always die."
Brilliant.

Saw 'Gone Girl' this evening, loved it but...I know it was based on the book but I'd have loved for the bitch to get her comeuppance.
Just got back from seeing Gone Girl. Proper found myself enjoying it. At the start I didn't think I'd like it but when it got into it I was just enticed.

Loved that film. Pretty much launched Denise whats-her-face's and restarted NPH's careers as well didn't it?
Apropos the spoiler I think teh issues you raised are evident throughout the book and for me degenerated into hilarity as so many of the lurches forward in the plot were based on preposterous principles. However it was taut for about a third of the book and I believe that the film has tried to spin it out a bit longer what with teh tense music etc
However probably best read or probably watched with some alcohol consumed to paper over the large cracks in the plot![]()
Yeah I saw this the other day, and thought it was pretty good. However I do have some issues with it:
1) Can't help but feel the casting of NPH was a terrible decision, especially with the way the character was portrayed/played. Couldn't help but expect him to break out into Barney-isms at any moment.
2) Found the diary writing scenes to be pretty 'cheesy'.
3) Think it jumped the shark pretty hard once Amy set up at the redneck motel. How does this apparent genius, who meticulously planned this whole fake kidnap/murder get duped by two local hill billies? How on earth did anyone buy her BS when she was interviewed by the police in hospital after her return? Did the whole investigation just get dropped? Oh she said NPH kidnapped her and raped her repeatedly, then she managed to kill him and escape, let's not bother to check that story out? Wtf? Is she actually pregnant now? How did that happen?
Up to that point it was a pretty good pyshc thriller, I tbh I was thinking that it was gonna be Nick who had done it after all, not her faking it. But after a good start/middle it wen't seriuosly off the rails and lost all sense of, well sense, after that.

1) Agreed
2) As did I, can't believe the police would fall for that so much.
3) Absolutely spot on. How can the police be satisfied by that half hearted attempt at a cover up. What I hated was how it hinted at her getting caught with Boney asking questions, then just veered away because of the "sympathy" people felt for her. In fact the whole NPH story was shockingly done, from not even wincing with "that scene". Also don't understand how that one fake video that she staged with the crying and wine on her thighs would add up, wouldn't there be dates on all of the security tapes?
4.) I would say it started well and then the last hour was just a joke. Also why did she feel the need to go back?
