Watched "Enemies of the People" last night, a documentary about the Khmer Rouge. An amazing film. The maker of the film, Thet Sambath, whose family were killed by the regime, spent years getting to know people who had committed atrocities in the name of the Khmer Rouge, and he manages to get Nuon Chea "Brother No. 2" to confess for the first time that he and Pol Pot were responsible for the killings. It's insightful, moving, and Sambath doesn't attack these people, his approach is that he just wants to document the truth from the people involved, so that Cambodians can move forwards and so that the next generation know what happened. His quiet dignity and search for justice but not retribution are incredible.
Can't recommend it enough.
