The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo : 7/10

Its a remake, and to some extent it does feel like one. The opening titles are really weird. So weird that you can't look away. I won't go into the details for those who haven't read the book and watched the Original film, like me. Its a complicated story, and its very simple. It's dark, layered, but not really much of a mystery. Some times otherwise sensible films rely on some amazing coincidence or random piece of evidence and this is no different. It's annoying. Daniel Craig is okay. The lighting suits hiding his rubber face and the girl from the title is a great character. Excellent performance by Stellan Skarsgard and the supporting cast. Fincher the Director has been making standout films for many years, and this is no different. Smooth, edgy, dull yet vibrantly lit, disturbing film which paints Sweden with the Hollywood brush.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy : 6/10

Great cast, a little boring. I have to watch it again I don't think I really 'got' it.

The Ides Of March : 6/10

The harsh realities of Politics in this tight Production, good ensemble cast, well made, maybe not a Cinema outing but definitely on to catch on the small screen.

Final Destination 5 : 5/10

The best part about these films isn't the over the top gore, the impalings, the smashings, the laser eye surgery gone horribly wrong. Its not the cheesy characters or the excess blood. Its remembering who dies in what order, and then deliciously watching how a unrelated series of events conspires to do in the hapless victim. Its the fact that the Hero can always save the people by telling them whats going on, but proceeds to do his best NOT to explain to anyone they are about to die. Best Death? Maybe the scalding tar bath, or the gymnast spine landing.

In Time : 6/10

Justin Timberlake has been treading the boards rather than getting sexy-back lately. This is one those films that just looks like they didn't have enough money to make what they set out to do on paper. They live in a strange society where once you turn 25, you stop aging. It doesn't stop your biological clock from ticking and you need to pay your way through life with Time being the currency. Cue rich people, oppression, introduce 'The Man' and some ironic plot devices, and you have In Time.

Reel Steel : 6/10

Its the same future as In Time, just not as further along, and Boxing has been banned. This means we must rely on oversized Robots fighting each other to fulfill the bloodlust of our ancestral DNA. Hugh Jackman plays the lovable Robot dude who has to get to know his son, who also happens to love Robots, and blah blah blah they find a crappy robot after losing their awesome one...pretty formulaic from here on in. Meh.

Watch the original.
Then watch 'Kill List'.

I've never read the book but I saw the original film. I was so surprised at how good the dubbing was, it almost like the actors were speaking English at times. It was a good film up until what I saw, but it was sooo long and I fell asleep before the end, which is quite common for me.

Thanks mate, I'll try to catch it.

This movie after an hour was on course for being an awesome film but it was spoilt, the 3 main characters were excellent and were played brilliantly but for some reason the movie took a turn in mine an a lot of other people I have spoke to's opinion for the worse, when I say terrible ending, I use the word ending very lightly as it had no particular ending and leaves the viewer very much unfulfilled and confused, the director seems to have wanted to end it with a twist to maybe shock and wow the audience but it does neither, in the end it was too obvious and a pretty much a pathetic attempt. I am so disappointed with the ending as I absolutely loved the first hour of this film, Neil Maskell was fantastic, and his character was too, he had a great mixture of psychotic and humour, backed by Michael Smiley and MyAnna Buring who too were brilliant, I cannot fault their acting at all, the dialogue too was good and the film up to the last 20 Min's kept me intrigued and entertained, but unfortunately it just fell apart, in the end I was left frustrated and so disappointed that they could build this movie up so well just to absolutely ruin it with a pathetic attempt of a shock/twist ending. I'm sorry Ben Wheatley but you totally ruined this film, it could have been oh so brilliant but instead turned it into a large pile of manure. this movie deserved a brilliant ending but all it did is make me actually HATE the film. and for this, it turned a 9 out of 10 movie into a 1 out of 10.

The ending explains the film, whoever wrote that IMDB review clearly didn't understand the blatant billboard signs that suggested there was more going on with the anti-hero and why the people he met reacted to him like they did.
Like I said, 'in bruge' meets 'wickerman'.
