Downfall ?

oooh it's good.

If WWII is your thing I highly recommend a HBO/BBC made for TV film called "Conspiracy" about the Wansee conference.

A whole host of top actors playing the absolute elite of Nazi Germany and effectively being ordered to agree and adhere to what would become known as the Final Solution. It's positively gripping.

I'm going to the cinema tonight (Orange Wednesday of course) to watch one of The Grey, Chronicle or War Horse. I've had a look on IMDB and Metacritic and they're quite closely rated, on average Chronicle being the best, then The Grey and then War Horse, which really surprised me.

I've heard great things about War Horse and that it's imperative to see it at the cinema but I'm going with a mate who doesn't finish work until late, so the only showing I can see won't get me home until nearly 3am, and I don't know if I can be bothered to sit and watch a film for 3 hours at that time.

Has anyone seen any of these? Or ideally all of them? I'm really stuck here.

I went the pics last week to see The Descendant with the missus. Couldnt get into it at all though. Seen War Horse before that, i enjoyed that but not as much as i thought due to the hype.

I would highly reccomend The Town with Ben Affleck in if anyone hasnt seen it.

Watched 'Inglorious Basterds' this morning. Surprisingly good, and the geezer that played the 'Jew Hunter' was a menacing, low key, high hatred, revelation.

6.5/10

Loses half a point because of no signature 'boot shot'.

I've seen the play of War Horse... On a school trip, it's cool but a tad gay. I'd go for Chronicle. In fact, you must be back from the cinema soon?

'Memento' is on tonight on film four in about 40 minutes after 'the departed' finishes.

If you think 'kill list' is a bit of a mind cluck, then a dose of 'memento' could really send you doolally.

Watched Batman (1989) tonight.

Still great with a good comic book feel.

Jack Nic plays The Joker superbly and Michael Keaton is the 2nd best Batman ever.

Kim Basinger was fit then too.

There are some wonderfully awful lines in it. But the feel, atmosphere and direction lent itself well to the subject matter. I like Burton for that sort of thing, and he had worked with Keaton on Beetlejuice (also very good).
Jack was the best joker because he does insane better than anyone else - a real love for the going a step beyond.
Keatons Batman was and is still more dark and brooding than Bales, and Bale is a massive tit for a lot of reasons, not least 'Salvation' and being a pompous ass.
