Last Film You Watched

1. Blade Runner.
2. Aliens.
3. Donnie Darko.
4. One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.
5. Apocalypse Now.
6. The Shining.
7. Dead Mens Shoes.
8. Unforgiven.
9. Jean De Floret.
10. Papillon.

These are the films I return to, time and time again, depending on my mood !

No comedies mate? (Well there's a couple I don't know on there that might be).

I see a lot of people's top 10 movie lists and they nearly always miss out comedies as if they don't count.

comedies are fun but often not substantial, affirming or deep enough to warrant a top 10. Tho' Fear & Loathing is a comedy, that got in mine. Pulp Fiction is often in these lists and could be classed as black comedy.

But generally the most powerful impressions from film come from feelings other than laughing: they come from deep emotion, abstract thought or generally just a massive WOW.

Bar the life of brian, I can't think of a comedy that's really stuck in my mind enough to make a top 10. Probs the original Ladykillers, too.

Mr Jolly lives next door (Which is another one of my favourite all time favourites of all time) was only a telly film so can't really be counted.

Airplane has got to be up there as a comedy

Jean de Floret....Watched that with an ex bird who blubbed non-stop for the last 45 minutes - couldn't get why?! I thought it was fiendish ;)

Still, it's got the old stella artois advert music on it, which made me hanker after a few tins while watching it even more than her whinging.

One of the main reasons I love Jean de Floret and another similar film, Manon des Sources is this lady : Emmanuel Beart.

At the time she was up there with Bardot for being one of the most beautiful women on the planet !

Went to see this last night. Despite a stellar cast, it was film that came across as a bit flat. Despite the fact Jonny Depp is superb in the lead as the pyscho gangster Jimmy " whitey " Bulger.

I'd wait until it comes out on general release for anyone planning to go and see it. It's just one of those films that feels as though it's been done to death imo.

Thought it was cack, meself. Depp tries to pull off a Jack Nicholson type character portrayal and fails, imo.

And I kept thinking his bessie mate in it was Matt Berry

Yeah, see where you're coming from, but I thought he kept it going, as the rest of the characters where just dull to the point of being insignificant .

The proper (Documentary) film: "Whitey - The USA vs James J Bulger" is a good watch. Shows how snide the FBI can be - even though Bulger himself was a snide.....

Wreck-It Ralph

Gave it another watch. It's a fun movie, but I do wish there had been even more retro game references than there was.

3 Championship Belts out of 5

Loved that film. 3.5-4 for me.

Nice! Always enjoy hearing what others' favourites are. Blade Runner's in my top 50. I had a phase writing user reviews on imdb, here's the one for BR, starts off critical then gets to the praise:

700 reviews!! Impressive!

9. Jean De Floret.

We used to watch these in French class in school. All I remember is some girl getting her kit off. Was that Beart?

Comedies are generally looked down upon as not being worthy. Same happens for the Oscars etc. Personally I love comedy, so I feel they should get more respect, especially the ones that are more than just cheap jokes and lazy slapstick.
