Last Film You Watched

Candyman - directing and visuals were great, but they’ve ripped the heart of the original. The political message was too strong and it changed the meaning of the original, it over shadowed what could have been quiet a decent reboot

6/10

Rewatched the original Matrix this morning and was pleasantly surprised how well it’s aged. Fight scenes in particular were still entertaining, that bullet time stuff looks a bit daft now though. Started watchjj on go the second one but turned off when I saw the first bit of CGI when he flys, absolute rubbish SFX.
Watched rewatched Glass instead to close out the Unbreakable trilogy I’ve rewatched over the last couple of weeks, prob say preference of all three follows the release order, ie Unbreakable = best, Glass = least fav but liked all 3 nontheless.

Surge. ( On Netflix )

This was very good for a low budget BBC film.

A young man ( Ben Wishaw ) who you assume is undiagnosed bi polar, is pushed into a 24hr manic episode, by the sheer tedium of his job as an airport security official.

The film follows him on a one man bi polar rampage around London.

Wishaw is outstanding, but it won’t be a film for everyone.

Not seen this but sounds like something I would love.

I watched Locke the other night and loved that. Is it kind of similar to that?

You`ll deffo like it then.

It`s not as dialogue heavy as Locke, but it`s similar in the way that the whole film focuses only on Wishaw, as he slowly and steadily loses his grip on reality.

It`s a comment on the emptiness and grind of London for the average person as much as anything.

Watched that Gunpowder Milkshake, disapointed, thought they were trying to hard to do a Tarantino, its just not very good
I thought this was really poor, and way too long for that sort of thing. I really should have switched it off, but I always feel cursed to finish films I've started watching. I did consider going to see it at the cinema, but glad I didn't bother. There are some good actors in there - Giamatti, Bassett, Yeoh, etc - but they still can't make it interesting.

Just watched Predator for probably the 100th time. If I were to rank my top 10 movies of all-time, this one would be in the top 5 easily.

The memorable (and ultra manly) characters, the action, the gore, the mystique, the way it builds tension like no other action movie, the setting, the Predator itself being the best monster in film history, Jesse Ventura being a goddamn sexual tyrannosaurus, Bill Duke being the meanest looking SOB ever, Sonny Landham being so badass IRL the film crew hired security for the safety of the other actors, Arnold's greatest performance, old painless, the manliest handshake in history, every line of dialogue is quotable and memorable. This film is scarier than most actual horror movies.

This movie is basically perfect from start to end. To me it's the greatest action (horror) movie ever made. Sadly there's no way something like this could be made today.

100/10
