They were talking about this very subject on City Talk on Thursday afternoon with a reporter from the Guardian being interviewed.

He said that the officials he'd spoken to in the PL are confident that the current deal (to start in 16/17) will be trumped at the end of it's term.

While he still thinks their is leeway in the domestic market due to external competition, the foreign markets they believe still have a lot to give.

Little fact he mentioned as well: next year's world top 30 richest clubs WILL be dominated by the PL clubs, most being in the top 20.

Collectively the Premier League was in profit last season for the first time ever, suggesting it'll attract much more interest from afar.

Next year's 20th placed team will also gain more revenue for their position than Chelsea did for winning it last season. Top 4 will gross £120m+.

The model is working and improving all the time, so he believes that it isn't anywhere near a bubble as of yet.
That's all ceteris paribus, as the economists would say.

But as the politicians will caution "Events, dear boy. Events!"

It's either that, or we end up getting bought by @hktoffee and his mates.

Don't want to get your hope up dude.

And we just sell fake thing here and don't think those rich guys in the north want to buy a PL club anyway otherwise they would have done it ages ago.

But building a 60,000 seater stadium for a team that finishes lower mid table isn't good business.Investment is needed to produce a team that finishes in the top six every season (at the very least) to fill a new stadium

That's sort of how I feel, except the Lower mid table stuff - it's only been one season. But it does go beyond capacity - I.e. It's more to do with corporate boxes. If all our games are to be exciting as they currently are we could possibly be viewed as a more attractive proposition regarding "a good day out".
People won't view that if they have to sit behind a post in goodison ha.

Our club is commercialised poorly which is the most annoying aspect for me, the money we generate compared to others is shameful.

Its the old scenario team first -Stadia later but not necessary in that order - we need big rich owners quick not just for the stadia but to hold onto our asset players who will go next summer if we end up in mid table!

People need to stop thinking short term and think longer. 15 years we've needed a bigger capacity.

Yet to some its like its too much trouble.

This post sums it up. To a certain extent the capacity is almost irrelevant, the corporates, naming rights and other uses far outweigh any benefit getting more ordinary fans in.
Put simply, if you increase ordinary capacity by say 10k, you generate an extra 210k per game if you sell them all. In the scheme of things, not worth a carrot. Only guaranteed 19 games per season, so worth just shy of 4 mil. One good player salary.
Corporates etc is where the money is along with restricting numbers of season and reduced price tickets.
*The £21 net comes from the esks post elsewhere.

Awaits incoming flak
