Anyways back on topic I would imagine prospective owners would need to know what they are purchasing. The fact that surveyors have looked at Goodison shouldn't really be major news, it will be part of the due diligence phrase. Be interesting all the same if we actually knew what the surveyors report was?? Be boss if they suggested 6 million new rivets needed for the next safety certificate.

This may have been mentioned already, but I wouldn't expect this group to fork over a ton of cash for a new ground. They very idea cuts against what's become traditional American sports culture.

I don't know if it works this way in Europe, but in the US, the onus is essentially on the city to pay for new stadiums for their sports teams. Why? Because there's always going to be another city willing to build a new stadium to convince a franchise to relocate.

Moores did manage to get a new stadium built for the Padres, but it took almost a decade from the moment the idea germinated to project completion. Padres ownership only contributed one third of the project's $450 million cost, while miscellaneous bonds, taxes and other businesses and agencies picked up the rest of the tab.

Would such an arrangement be possible in Liverpool?
The city definitely wouldn't pay for the ground and it's against FA rules to move the club to a different city so that would fail on both fronts.

The council is out of funds for important life-changing stuff and about the only thing they can do is help provide land (see Walton Hall Park).

(The following is way beyond premature but you can always daydream...)
About the only way I can see a typical American sports-style project getting off the ground is if it is tied into regeneration, as it was with East Village in San Diego. And, in this case, we do have the concept of the Football Quarter linking Goodison and Anfield via Stanley Park and linked to investment and revitalisation in the local area with the prospect of increased visits and tourism outside matchdays.

Btw, if anyone hasn't seen the surveyor comments, someone has tweeted a video (also in the Echo daily blog):
