Can a footballer own shares in a different club?

When this broke there was the rumour/hearsay of rooney being someone putting money up for a minority share. Not saying that is true mind you but out of curiousity can a player technically be a shareholder in a club?

Why have the Americans not been more 'visible'. i dont think they have even been spotted in England, let alone Goodison.

I'm getting Robert Earl vibes

If these prospective owners are using their own money to buy us then I'm in, if it's a leveraged buy out which heaps more debt on the club then I'm not. We simply can not afford to survive like that.

Hoping it's the first option and I am sure they will have a business plan and grow us because that's what we need, the competition in this league is getting harder all the time. We need these Americans to be the real deal, otherwise we will have no chance of at least being the best of the rest.

Want to see us possibly build a new stadium, or rebuild our present one and win things again, let's face it there's not much chance of any of that under the current regime.

Don't think their is anything stopping it, pretty sure that Giggs is part owner of Salford isn't he? Not a player anymore obviously but in a managerial role at another club so think the same rules would apply

Why is the leveraged buy out something that is being thrown around a lot as something that could happen, unless i am very much mistaken - a leveraged buy out requires something to leverage against it - we don't have anything that can be leveraged against the buy out, United for example had a lot of facilities, ground etc they could do that with, we have zilch

People saying 'I'm in' or 'I'm out if so and so' is making me giggle.
Like Bill or any prospective buyer cares if you like a leveraged purchase or not.
Just everyone relax. I'll take anything over the current lot.

We have been asset stripped.

So...what 'assets' have been stripped at to whose benefit? And please, for starters, don't include 'They sold Finch Farm' in your list, because sale and lease back is a legitimate business move to release cash for current use. Next ?

All the things he did with the Padres that I have read so far, as in bult a new stadium and bult the brand before selling it on at a massive profit, should surely be the things that get people excited?

We are currently rudderless and with absolutely no direction. All that we have is Suntan Bob patching things up and trying to look corporate at the front end of the business.

Wouldn't it be nice to have people running the club with a sense of purpose and most importantly, a plan?

We couldn't have been more asset stripped than we have by the current custodians as many have pointed out already. All we own is a piece of land in L4 that isn't actually worth that much and a load of highly priced footballers.

Come on folks, chill! Exciting times could just be around the corner.

Rumours that they've been at a couple of games but one went dressed as a drag queen and the other disguised as a power ranger to avoid detection.

Hopefully that's not true as we don't want that sort of character running the club.
