I came across this on another site.It made me laugh anyway.:)

I can imagine the investors being guided through the clubs recent history:

Bill/Club Rep: "The clubs' record over the past decade or so has been quite good given the heavy investment made by other clubs - they usually finish around top 6 and have been a near constant presence at the top end of the table"

Potential Investor: "So where did they finish last season?"

Bill: "Errm, 11th - they were in a great moment it just didn't fall kindly for them"

PO: "Oookay, and where are they now in table? We hear that a lot of the bigger teams are slipping left right and center, surely they must be taking advantage"

Bill: "Oh yes, we are up to 8th this season!"

Potential Investor leaves....

If the takeover happens it'll be a bit like when Moyes left for me. You're not sure what the hell is going to happen next but you're willing to gamble that it'll be better than what's happened before.
I was gutted and terrified when Moyes left to be honest. This is different, it will be nigh on impossible for any new owners to be worse than the current ones.

I think people go a bit overboard on how bad our current board our. We could very easily be asset stripped and end up in the championship. The current board aren't great but trust me, they could be much worse

We have already been asset stripped so its not going to be much worse. The current board haven't invested have they. Maybe we might get a couple of million more per window to spend...that's all most of us are asking. I don't get all the negativity regarding the takeover...why do people think we are going to be asset stripped and end up in the Championship? We may finally have a stadium and people with business sense that could take the club forward rather than the stagnation that has swallowed us up under the current board.

Like everyone else on here, I know nothing about this consortium that could soon be the new owners, nor have any idea what the business plan will be, I hear the phrase asset stripping a lot but besides the players we have no assets, if the intention is to make a quick profit then surely keeping the team strong would make it easier to sell for a profit in the future

Far too many shouts of them being asset strippers abounding around here, they have not done that in any business they have ever been involved in, fact is every one is petrified about them stripping the only asset we actually do have which is the players, the same people ofc have been predicting that come the summer - with or woithout new owners we will have to sell Stones and Lukaku anyway, so exactly why are you terrrified when you expect the current board to sell them that the new owners might ... errrm sell them?

IF you expect Stones, Lukaku etc to be sold anyway, then what is the risk to take - IF new owners come in then at worst they do exactly what you already expect the current board to do this summer and sell them, think about that for a moment.

As a club we have NO other assets worth selling, we have sold FF, Goodison is becoming more and more of an obsolete stadium as each team around us upgrades, expands or builds/gets given a new stadium, we have taken out a massive loan against future season ticket sales till god knows how long, we have a board who have put the grand total of ZERO of their own money into the club. we have commercial deals bettered by the likes of the Mighty Norwich, Sunderland and nearly every other yo-yo club in this league.

I'd rather have an owner who even if only in it for a short term profit does the right things to ensure that he maximises the profit, in this day and age, stadium, infrastructure, existing commercial deals that are financially sound, success on the field and the quality of the playing staff are the things which will increase the net worth of the club to any future buyer after these, all that should ensure they go about it in the right way - as people have said - they are sound businessmen with a history of selling a company in a better state than when they took it over, for us that cannot be a bad thing.

My only caveat to this - would be who the other members of any supposed consortium would be, the influence they would have, the experience they would have (hopefully at least one with serious knowledge of the game) and are they as solid as Moores/noelle seem to be when looked into more closely. Until those names are out there is and should be an element of doubt over this takeover, but please people stop the knee-jerk fear mongering, it makes you at best look like paranoid and at worst look an utter melt

Feel the same. Why sell to a 71 year old when so many other offers on the table? Only two things spring to mind. He is offering the most money to the Board which is the most likely. Or, his plan for Everton is far more impressive....doubtful to me.
I believe his son runs his business on a day to day basis, so could be buying Everton with him in mind.

Spot on. My main hopes for these guys really is that they get us much better commercial deals than Elstone managed, which lets be honest shouldn't be too hard, get a new stadium underway, and potentially start to reclaim some of the assets which Kenwright and co. have stripped, like FF. That would put us in a much, much healthier position in the long run.
