Him being a part of the consortium wouldn't be far fetched, he used to own quite a chunk of Man United from what i recall before selling to the Glazers
JP MCMANUS involvement would make me feel a lot better about this . The ferguson "Rock of Gibraltar " row soured things at Utd for him . He would be a good man to have in our camp !

The thing would worry me about a Chinese, or indeed any takeover from the Far East, is they would come up with some schemes which would be total anathema to the fan base.

Like if the new owner wanted to change our shirts to yellow or green or sommat because it is his favourite colour.

Or change the name of the club in some subtle fashion.

I would deffo rather have an American taking over than the Chinese, which as has been pointed out, would come complete with some Peking government seal of approval.
They like the colour red, these people from the Far East, reckon it's lucky, and looking across the park I think I'm inclined to agree.

Both McManus and Magnier if they where in together - which track records suggest they probably would both be involved if one was, would add a massive amount of credibiility to the deal - as well as a lot more money - neither is a fly by night merchant and both have reputations in sport in general that would provide insurance against those who fear a quick buck making venture from the Americans, their sporting reps would be worth more to them than the damage fleecing us would do to both Irish blokes.

Serious business people and serious sporting people to boot, now throw in someone with a lot of football knowledge and it'd be looking very good indeed

Its a great bunch of lads to play for

Its a great bunch of lads to support

And if you know your history

It's enough to make your tank go whoa oh oh oh
The Chinese have an appalling history with their youth, I can't trust them with the future of the club.

If you examine Noell's investments in the Irish equine industry you will recognise he is a serious player. Well respected too.

It is that and their apparent shared love of golf/racing which makes me think their could be a definite connection there mate, a consortium involving, Moores, Noelle, McManus and Magnier would have a LOT of weight behind it as well as upping the overall monetary worth of the owners, the Racing blokes as well understand the need to spend to achieve success and are both hard nosed businessman apparently.

Could have legs that rumour most certainly

Trying to think if their has ever had any connection between either of them and Kenwright as could definitely provide him with the 'correct people' insurance he seemed to have wanted

...I might be wrong but I think the Rock of Gibralter issue was more with John Magnier than JP. McManus is very much into the jump racing game.

It was mate, but as both of them together where the group with the United shares and as they are supposedly very close then an argument with one would be an argument with both if that makes sense

....I'm not 100% certain although some on here say he had an interest in United -see above.

Outside the equine business, John Magnier has proven to be an astute investor and together with associates J. P. McManus, Dermot Desmond, Joe Lewis, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith has enjoyed phenomenal success. A high profile venture was his stake of 28.89 per cent shareholding in the famous football club, Manchester United F.C., which was sold in May 2005 to Malcolm Glazer, an American businessman. A personal friendship with manager Alex Ferguson was tested in a dispute over bloodstock rights to prolific Group 1 winner (seven wins) Rock of Gibraltar which currently stands at Coolmore.

From wiki mate - not the best source but checked and seems spot on

As another interesting aside, most of that group has besides united had dealing with other clubs in the past or have tried to buy clubs in the past as well, so definite form for one, some or all to be involved in things
