I said the same a few pages back, all those not sures. What the heck do they want?

I have voted NO!

I am wary of this consortium from what I have read they are a bunch of carpet baggers. In the short term it may look beneficial to our club but long term I think there could be problems like over the park had with their owners before FSG.

It strikes me they have envisaged that a price of 200 mill in a few year could be 500 mill for a sale and that is what they are after - a killing.

So I am coming out and saying no.

DaveK alludes to other interested parties but who are they tell us what you have heard.

In reality I think there is little the fans can do to stop the sale. It is done to BK and his Ilk who can see a pot of gold awaiting them from their original share purchase price.

Is it because they're not 'our' carpetbaggers? Currently ensconced as our incumbent board?

Going to state that nothing will come from this.

I'd be surprised if there was a new story about it come the end of Jan.

Hi dave, I put an edit onto this post but it seems to have got lost.

Let me be clear I have voted against the takeover, not sitting on any fence. From what I have read I do not trust this consortium they appear to be a bunch of carpet baggers who have no real interest in our club. They are looking to buy cheap, give it a few years and sell on for 500mill thus making a nice little earner for them but that is my opinion each to his own view point.

But really what can the fans do, nothing it seems to me. They cannot stop BK and his ilk from gabbing a very nice gold pot which far exceeds the original share purchase price. I do not like what BK etc have done but I am wary of a bunch of no mark Yanks.

BTW who are the other interested parties you mention, any names?
In order for them to be able to sell on for £500 million in a few years time, wouldn't the club have to be in a significantly better position? Why would that be a problem?

Only speculation on my part, judging form their American history. Have you read it?
Yes, but it's beside the point. Again, if they manage to sell the club for a massive profit in a few years, that would mean the club is a more attractive investment than it is now. The only way for that to happen is for the club to be in better shape than it is now. So why would that be a problem?

It is just my view on this takeover, right now there is no talk of investment just buying the shares. That is not investment.

Again, you're missing the point. Nobody is going to buy this club just for the sake of spending £200 million. There's a plan of some sort, whether or not they've made it public, and there just isn't a realistic way of making money off this club without making it better. The only way these people could come in and make us worse off is through financial incompetence, and that's the one characteristic no one has said these guys have.

Fine Friend, we will all see in due course meanwhile my vote remains the same as does yours.

Even if they only want to buy us to make money in a few years, they are still going to have to invest and improve us as a club in order for that to happen, right?

So if that means a new stadium, that's progress isn't it? That I'd imagine would then attract better sponsorship deals, corporate, marketing exposure and so on. Even if at this point they decide to sell to get a healthy return on their investment, so be it. At least we have become a stronger club in this period. Yes there are counter arguments and risks, but a businessmen wants to make money and for them to do that at our club, they'll need to do more than just sitting back and taking the sky money every year in my opinion.

Can't understand why anyone would back themselves into a corner with their position on this at this stage, until more is known.

There will be plenty of opportunities for mudslinging when there is something more concrete on offer.

Until then it would seem a bit silly to be either dead set against it or to be planning a welcoming party at JL airport for their arrival.

If there was no investment at all and all they did was ran the club properly it would be a massive improvement on what we have now.

I've said it a millions of times as have others but I don't think people really understand how bad the crowd are who are in charge now.

The internet is a weird place, isn't it?
