They are in the box seat because they currently have the exclusive rights to examine our books. No-one else interested has these rights.

This is a bit more than showing an interest.
What if someone else has already examined the books outside public eye?

That is why I dont get why this lot went public. Not been a dickie bird from the club, (I cant recall), and it is not beyond the realms of fantasy that at least one of the other groups that have popped up have not done anything.

Then there is the ground. Any new owner would, again, I assume, have plans for it. Even if that plan is a lick of paint and new nets. Either way, anything more than that would have to be at least discussed with LCC. The Mayor said that after the AGM pretty much.

Odd.

Good points. There is a long way to go I believe. Don't see anything done in a few weeks as reported, especially as there are one or two more interested parties.
I don't think anyone is "in the box seat". Just paper talk.

Assuming that this isn't from the club (since the bloke that broke the news said it wasn't) then I can only imagine it's to put pressure on the club to sell? If the potential buyers know that the fans want the club to change hands then it makes sense that going public with it could be beneficial for them.

"Everton have signed a non-disclosure agreement – standard practice in such deals – so will not be commenting on the potential takeover by the consortium that has partners on both sides of the Atlantic."

Or, there are more interested parties and the club has options? If so, then the American chaps better have big plans for the EFC, and better make them known.

Correct. As with previous suitors who have already examined the books.
A bit early to be calling anyone a favourite.

Dunno. Maybe I guess. It seems a pretty blunt negotiating tool though. Ride into town, announce "we want to buy you" without any clue as to what anything looks like behind the scenes.

Something else must have been going on. Or its all hot air.

True. Dont know much about these processes, but other clubs takeovers seem to pop up out of the blue. Like I cant remember exclusive rights being given to City's owners for example. For all I know, 20 groups could have already looked at the books, said "No", and now we have this lot.

That being said, I dont bounce about other clubs forums much!
I am sure Man Citys Takeover broke on transfer deadline day (out of the blue) on SSN... and outshone any transfer on the day....... and had half of Manchester knocking one out in the shower.

I believe so. How exciting that must have been for City supporters hey?

I remember Chelseas being announced on 5 Live at about 9am one morning. Nowt in the papers, (probably pre forum days as well), then a series of Chelsea fans coming on and saying it was awful!

That dead Labour MP was one. Cant remember his name. Tony Banks?
