As sad as it is, 4th would attract better players giving us the prospect of further multiple trophies down the line rather than one solitary cup win.

I just want to enjoy watching us playing well again on a regular basis (it's been a while)
When we are playing well enough to actually contest EVERY game no matter who the opposition are, then the results, improved league positions and trophies will inevitably follow.

Not easy to answer because you don’t know what happens afterwards. Footballs about winning trophies so on that basis winning something is the big one, but finishing top 4 could open far more doors than a second rate cup would. It’s not as straightforward as some are suggesting for me.

Cup. It's not even close. We could end up going out in a CL qualifer due to being handed the hardest possible draw and let down by a dodgy decision and then get bummed in the Europa after being shunted down and have a crapstorm of a season because of the disappointment of it all.

Good job that scenario would never likely to happen in the real world...

Cup, I don't care what anyone says finishing 4th is nothing except potential riches (and a slightly elevated profile if we go through the qualifier).

Winning silverware should be the priority, 4th is still a lottery.

I went for a cup win.

I would take 4th if it was then guaranteed that we came top 4 pretty much every season as trophies should follow then. If it was just for one season and then we don't even qualify for the Champions League then it's worthless.

we’ve been there before though , last trophy was in in 1995 . It’s mind blowing we need success , I’d like both but a trophy is about winning and success breeds success we need a winning mentality . Both would contribute to that but amongst the fanbase a trophy could kick us out of our doldrums .

Realistically it has to be a trophy because we have no chance of top 4 for the foreseeable future anyway. It would have to be another freak season of the better teams falling apart for us to be even in with a slight chance.

I'm always upset after our pathetic cup displays over recent seasons as it's our only real way of progression
