I get the feeling all those saying fourth have never seen us win and been part of that. Anyone who remembers the cup and league wins will tell you there's no better feeling in football. Coming 4th has become a target, that's sad in my opinion, you want to finish as high as possible of course but winning a trophy is a great feeling and one we have been starved of for a very long time.A game changer how? We get laughed at because we win nothing.
I don’t disagree. It’s why choosing between one or the other is a daft concept.we’ve been there before though , last trophy was in in 1995 . It’s mind blowing we need success , I’d like both but a trophy is about winning and success breeds success we need a winning mentality . Both would contribute to that but amongst the fanbase a trophy could kick us out of our doldrums .
Depth of squad, you need to focus on one, which should be the one your most likely to win.I don’t disagree. It’s why choosing between one or the other is a daft concept.
Why not win a cup and get 4th?
It's just not important to me and it's a major reason we have fixture congestion. It was only brought in 60 years ago for lower league clubs revenue and a rough chance to win a trophy.
We have European fixture congestion now and the League Cup should be scrapped or be confined to clubs below the Prem, imo.
It's a 3rd rate trophy and I actually take some satisfaction with us not having won it. I'd much rather win the Community Shield which isn't listed in club's
silverware haul, and that's a pity because we've won heaps of them.

Yes, I make allowances for young supporters who haven't seen us win things and understand the need to win something. Look, I'm 74 and haveHow old are you boss? I agree it’s the ugly sister of cups, but for those of us who’ve never seen Everton win anything it would be a big deal.
2To mix it up a bit @Woolverhampton_Blue would you rather:
1. Win a trophy but finish say 11th including getting battered in both derby games 3/4 nil
or
2. get knocked out of both cups early doors but finish 4th and doing the double over the RS in the season including a last minute winner at Anfield
???
I wonder if there is an age divide on this subject. I grew up following Everton in an era when there wasn't a champions league and only the actual champions competed in the European cup. I think as a consequence 2nd to 4th as an achievement means very little to me (notwithstanding the obvious commercial and reputational benefits of playing in the CL). I suspect, however, that had I been born ten years later and grown up with the CL I would probably be more enamoured with it.
Yeah, my theory is probably bollocks!I'm 26 and would take a trophy over a european place anyday.
