Cannot believe we not hunting down a new striker ... Unreal. If rom get injured were fecked
I cant believe they've sent him out against dirty Leeds. I'm wincing every time he receives the ball. And that nobhead Byram almost stopped McCarthy's season before it began.

His confidence is shot to pieces, he's never been a great player by any stretch but he was certainly better than this at Wigan.

You can see him actually stiffen up when the balls played to him and his first thought is clearly "don't [Poor language removed] it up..don't [Poor language removed] it up..."

I was talking about Naismith, not Kone.

I agree with you Kone, though.

The young players are doing well. It's the the first teamers I'm worried about. Kone, Naismith, McCarthy, Oviedo and Barkley all have a decent chance of starting next week and all look awful.

If Rom is out for the first couple of games of the season I can't see us scoring and then we start the run from hell. We could seriously be looking at 0-6 points from the first 10 games.

It's astonishing that we can play such a young back four , have them hold their own against a Championship team for 45 mins, know we've got a set of four full internationals ahead of them , and behind them we could play four promising youth internationals as the u21s back four - Yates, Connolly, Galloway , Kenny. Time to sort out whose playing in front of them.

He won't be (barring Injury tomorrow/week ahead)

Yes they deal with corners better!

Just not working at all. Splitting the first team up for two games a week before the season starts.

Awful planning.

I make no apology for going back to this ridiculous decision to treat the Villarreal game like a circus side show rather than the full and serious last chance to hone the first team for the games coming up.

Reserving judgement until I see how we come out tomorrow. My guess is that we would only get 60 minutes of playing time for first teamers tomorrow even if it wasn't a testimonial. If it is the true First team for 60 minutes at a high tempo before Rooney, Duncan come on than I can see the set-up today.

If we come out with a really disjointed group then I would agree. I know Barkley and McCarthy are starting. But perhaps that is because we needed SOMEONE from the first team in the squad and Martinez wanted to see if Barkley would dictate the game and if James would control the Defensive Mid - sans Berry. I don't see Naismith being a starter and perhaps this is the final analysis for Martinez, if Naismith and Kone can do anything. If we go and get a striker this week or before the deadline I think it is a direct result of Martinez realizing that Kone is not coming back to what he was. He has been injury free for 6 months now with a full pre-season. No more excuses - He may just be Crocked permanently.
