Leicester postponement

As I have said we had a side available against Chelsea that would be deemed to be strong enough. The other match you mention is a cup match not a league match.
So using 6 home grown playes out of 14. 3 making their first appearances. And another getting only his 2nd sub appearance. So that’s the criteria. Then I’m sure Leicester will be fine

Of course they could put a side out as they did in the cup. If they play a weakened side in the league it has ramifications for other teams so the league has to decide whether it is making the competition unfair.
Well that cup side they put out was enough to wallop a premier league side 4-1, so you'd have a tough argument trying to convince anyone that the same side put out in the league would do the league a disservice.

It'd be absolutely preposterous if clubs like Liverpool and Leicester are allowed to postpone as many games as possible whilst the Afcon is on. The gift of a club was to postpone games if there was a major COVID outbreak. Leicester don't have that, so they should be given absolutely no leeway at all as clubs have had to manage injuries, suspensions whilst the Afcon has been on before for years and never had the option to delay matches.

‘Home grown’ is not relevant because there are home grown players who could have played for the first team for years. It is really about the experience they have.

If they had only 15 out they may still be able to get the 13 players of the required experience to play the match. As it is they have 17 out so are struggling to do this. The rules are not just about covid now so you need to forget the reasons why they are unavailable. If teams get down so low on numbers for whatever reason and they can only play lots of youngsters the league may feel it is making the league unfair.

Foxes fan by any chance?

The integrity of this season is blown to bits with the inconsistencies already the way this rule has been bent and broken by a number of clubs and the league - it's another * whoever wins it.

Injuries and afcon should have nothing to do with this - do the foxes have a covid outbreak or not?

No I can just see what is going to happen later in the season when we may need the bottom sides to lose and they may be picking up wins against u23 sides!

Well why didn’t we cancel the Chelsea game . You can try and convince yourself.
There is some rule out there but there isn’t. If you can go around cancelling games because of injuries .

The premier league would be opening themselves up to constant abusing of the rules. That’s why there’s been one case in probably a 100yrs and that club got docked points.

You can't, or at least you shouldn't be able to, pick and choose what games you want to play. How can you have a squad to put out against a Premier League outfit in a cup competition but not play in the league a few days later?

At has been discussed, they don't have many COVID cases at all, they have a lot of injuries and players at Afcon but since when has a team ever been able to cancel games before on that basis?

If they don't want to play (want being the key word because they can obviously play if they were forced to) then they should be made to forfeit the match.
Let's not forget, they also won that cup game!

It is on the Premier League website. If a team cannot field 13 outfield players for any reason they can ask for a postponement. It goes on to say that the players included are regular squad members and younger players with the appropriate experience.

There is no way this game should be postponed unless it is Covid that it is hampering their squad.

If they have injuries then that is absolutely no excuse and from what I have read, by their own admission it is injuries that is their main problem. Play or forfeit.
