Leicester-The Worst Reigning Champions Ever?

They had no right to win the league last season. If they got offered 14th place they would have bit your hands off.

So all credit to them for going so far over the expectancy to actually go and do it. Well worthy champions and i envy the fans for getting to experience that. Plus it is another team that have won it since those lot have, which is another bonus.

As for being the worst reigning champions? Course they are. They are a team mostly made up with championship at best players. The difference is, they have their name on the trophy, that is all that matters to them.

For whatever it's worth my Leicester supporting mate couldn't give a swear word of they finish 17th this season. They won the league last season.

He doesn't care about too much right now really.

I don't care if it was "great for the league". It's over now. I think it'd be great for the league if they were relegated. It'd reinforce further the idea that money isn't everything and anyone can win the league, by confirming that they never were all that talented and that belief, togetherness and team spirit really are all you need. It'd be the perfect ending to the fairytale.

They were 33/1 to win the league. I don't remember reigning champions ever being more than 5/1 before, so it shows nobody is expecting much.

Don't get me wrong, I have full admirarion for Leicester's achievements last season but, looking at the season so far and the Best Four Teams In Each Country League about to start, I can't help but think they will be the worst reigning champions ever.
Does anyone care to discuss this?

Chelsea only recently and I think we finished 14th in 70-71 and our first 7 games were W1 D3 L3 (not in that order obvs)...So it's not totally unknown
Fine lines really we were done out of an FA Cup and European cup final...all this in a very poor season

Lets wait till May to judge.

Their fans won't care. They've done what most clubs (including ours now) can only dream of doing in the prem by winning it. They'll have a great time in Europe and as long as they avoid relegation they can sell off their players for huge prices in the summer and bask in the glow of midtable football like everyone else. They've lived the dream.

2-0 up away from home in their first CL game? Id say no to the posters question.

I think they will finish in the top ten this year, and have fun in the CL.

Early days. I think they will finish top half.

On my way back from Brugge after an amazing couple of days. Firstly what a beautiful place it is to visit! The scenery is stunning and the beer is off the scale!

As for the game we couldn't have really hoped for any better. Ok Club Brugge were dreadful but after Saturday's debacle I wasn't overly confident going in to this one. If we'd have conceded that early chance it could've been a different story I guess but they just couldn't handle Vardy all night. Porto drawing at home to Copenhagen was the icing on the cake

Now its time to sort the league form out!

First time I've stepped in to or seen this thread.

Worst reigning champions...probably but still a much better side than they're given credit for and apart from losing Kante I think they've done some good business. I can see another top 8 finish which would be a massive achievement taking into account Europe and the fact that everyone will want to scalp the champions.
