Leighton Baines & Marouane Fellaini Thread

Did I say buy Scots? I said, we should have a look at players at Scottish clubs

The 2 you mentioned were Scots & I'd not want either of them, so using the logic that the 2 you highlighted were likely to be the pick of the bunch, I'd rather we give that league the swerve in our hunt for a striker worthy of the title.

McNulty
"I'm told talks between Everton and Manchester United are progressing and this deal should now be concluded successfully before the deadline, as most of us have expected.

"It is understood Fellaini has been given permission to delay linking up with the Belgium squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Scotland and Croatia to enable him to complete the transfer - once it's all been agreed of course."

No point of selling Fellaini. We will weaken our 1st team.

I mean, there's countless examples of players coming from lower leagues and doing well at bigger clubs

Seamus Coleman came from Sligo Rovers

Just because a player is in a lower league or a league not as competitive as ours doesn't mean we shouldn't take a look at them if they show promise.

Stuff like this is why the national pool is so poor at the moment. Young kids do well at Brentford or Crawley or Burton Albion but they never get the chance because they didn't come from a top clubs youth system and had the temerity to learn their trade lower down the leagues (See Rickie Lambert)

To use a wrestling analogy (Which Ijjy will get), saying you shouldn't buy a player from Scotland is like saying WWE shouldn't bring in an ROH guy becaue ROH is lower than WWE. Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, two of their biggest stars, came from ROH and perfected their craft in the lower leagues. Compare them to someone like Rene Dupree, who came in the WWE system and got chance after chance despite showing no real aptitude.

Where you come from doesn't matter, it's the skill you have that does

It's not like that at all

While I get your point it doesn't really work.

You could get a decent player from the Malta 2nd division.

Thing is he might be good but he's been playing against sh*te for years. Same in Scotland.

Oviedo is not a replacement for Baines. He is nowhere near Baines level. Who is this Bruno guy?

As Oviedo is a left back since he began his career im confused why you think he was signed?

Bruno Martins Indi strongly linked all over this forum and dutch press.
