Leighton Baines & Marouane Fellaini Thread

Im interested to see Evra's reaction at united now.... Moyes publicly went after Baines and missed and coentreau ?.. Is he also a left back ? Not too sure.... Either way Evra's gonna be pissed off

Moyes isn't looking as embarrassed as he should be given his awful transfer bungling over the past few weeks. I am happy with the work Kenwright and Martinez did yesterday but am also looking to see what we are planning to do with the money we got for Fellaini in January as we have only spent £8m of it so far.

I'm happy, I think the club looks healthier.....

Some of this money should be driven into the youth set up......think longer term rather than spunking it on panic buys "ahem Mr Moyse"

Apart from that I will reserve judgement on Mcarthy but he does seem a tad overpriced.....

And Baines has stayed......woo hoo....

Good luck to Fellaini, don't blame him about the transfer request it was all manipulated.

Go back to our treacherous EX, he turned Felli's head well and truly with comments made in Summer and I think before he actually left Everton.

Good price obtained in the end.

that just looks weird

Wasn't a massive fan of Vic during his time here but he played in some boss games that I got to travel the country to see and gave some fantastic memories.

Best of luck lids.

Got to say thanks to Felli for his behaviour, none of this 'my heads not right', remember Pienaar, played well for us and even got himself cuptied - could have been an easy way out not to play in that tie. Good luck to him I say

"Everton intend to offer Baines a new contract now the window has closed and, despite making a profit this summer, £2m of the Fellaini fee is owed to his former club Standard Liège while the loan deals for Lukaku and Barry will cost close to £10m. Kenwright, meanwhile, finds himself in the rare position of receiving credit where credit is due."

Forgot about that.

So £32.5m in- £13m McCarthy- £2m Standard Liege- £10m loan fees= £7.5m, which is probably about what we spent over the summer. Maybe we have only broken even then after all?

Although Everton and the media stated the fee was £27.5m, it was in fact £23.5m, but we spun it as £27.5m because we saved £4m in fees to Fellaini because he handed in a transfer request.

"By driving to Everton's training ground and lodging a transfer request on Monday evening, Fellaini sacrificed £4m in loyalty bonuses. That allowed Everton to agree to a £23.5m deal because the overall gain to them was £27.5m."

By submitting a transfer request shortly before 8pm, Fellaini ensured Everton would not be forced to pay the player £4 million in loyalty bonuses, enabling the two clubs to agree a deal worth £27.5 million to the selling club.

United insist they have paid Everton no more than the £23.5m release clause that was in Fellaini’s contract – a clause that expired at the end of July – but Everton say the deal is worth £27.5m to them. The difference is understood to be Fellaini’s own cash sacrifice.

By submitting a written transfer request on deadline day Fellaini, left, has forfeited about £4m in loyalty bonuses that would have been due on the two years remaining on his Everton contract . That has allowed Everton to declare the deal as being worth £27.5m to them

that's the express, telegraph, and independent all saying Man Utd paid £23.5m (the original release clause and no more) and we declared it as £27.5m because we 'saved' £4m in payments to Fellaini. I'm inclined to believe that this is the case over and above Everton's Official Site stating the 'fee' was £27.5m.

So it *seems* we will receive £23.5m for Fellaini although the deal is worth £27.5m because we didn't have to pay £4m in a loyalty bonus. On top of that, the fee for Vic 'could rise to £6m' according to most reports (though the OS simply states it's £6m) and we may only be getting £4/5m or so up front/guaranteed. And various reports say the fee for McCarthy could rise to £15m. BBC said Everton reported it as £13m but Wigan suggested it was closer to £15m.

I don't understand any of that. Why would we declare we got £27.5m if Man Ure only paid £23.5m. if we agreed to the £23.5 with no transfer request would of Everton said we only sold him for £19.5m. None of it makes sense as it must mean we pay more to Standard Leige
