Im sick of the Echo's love in of Baines. Every article is based on him staying as first choice LB. Even just now one about how he's found his new pienaar in Richarlison.

Just been reading in the echo and they had fans pick the teams and most picked Baines to start. Ridiculous, do these people just not want to see us improve?

The only thing I can think of is that Silva / Brands whichever one is clever to not have sudden wholesale changes. We all noticed how he's done so far ok with the same first XI bar Richarlison, and sudden jettison of Baines, Jags, Gana, Schneiderlin and Tosun would have been really disruptive. He must have seen then respond well, and at least they are doing as well as they can, at their standard and fitness level. Tosun / Walcott seem to have a good relationship, Baines / Jags we know already, Gana is knitting the team together as a poor man's Kante. A fast paced fitter team will automatically find out the right first choice XI and Jags / Baines will either make it or not keep up

fair play to silva, love baines, he's definitely good enough to be back up, for the next couple of years too imo and then pass the torch onto robinson, but this should be the start of a new decade of a new left back in digne.

I think Silva is trying to gradually phase them out. Luckily for him, Jags and Baines forced their way out of the lineup.
