Leighton Baines

Great game, but can RM relive him of corner taking - look at their goal he again hit a man which on his left hand side caused their goal on the breakaway - Sterling performance marred by the big error he tracks over to the right to put in very poor corners - that cost us Clkeverly and delboy take the better corners imo !

Thought he was great. Makes such a difference to us.

Although, if you watch you can see he is still a bit wary of his ankle. Not quite 100% on it yet. Didn't help that he got clattered early doors either.

Typically he's been getting crunched on his ankle!

But yeah, amazing when you put someone in front of him who isn't a forward, then he looks much better. Less scared to bomb forward.

Also fitness will help. Looked back to his best, anyway. His very, very ace best.

i had baines as MoM, he upped the pace of the game, we looked much better defensively, he's better at stopping crosses at source, he's boss

I had Besic man of the match closely followed by Baines and Barry. I think as one of the more experienced players he's the type who we need to step up and help the younger kids out and last night he started to look like the Baines of old. Put in a couple of great crosses as well.

Superb last night, back to his considerable best. We look a far more balanced team with him and Cleverley on the left.
