Everton contract talks: First-team star to be offered lucrative new deal
LEIGHTON BAINES is set to be offered a new contract at Goodison Park, reports claim.


According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton will initiate talks with Baines and his representatives soon to extend his contract beyond June 2019.
Baines, 31, signed an extension in January 2014 - shortly after Everton rejected an approach from David Moyes' Manchester United.

The England international, who earns £60,000-a-week, has made over 340 appearances and netted 33 goals during his nine-year relationship with the club.
A new deal displays Ronald Koeman's faith in the talented left-back, who returned to pre-season training early to boost his fitness.

Baines will seemingly cement the full-back role in Koeman's starting XI despite growing competition from Bryan Oviedo, Luke Garbutt and Brendan Galloway.
Supporters will be able to see Baines in action as Everton's pre-season journey continues this weekend in the Dresden Cup, where they will face Dynamo Dresden and Real Betis.

Find this a bit strange if im honest. He will be 32 in december and has 2 more years already on his contract. An any additonal wages given to baines would reduce the overall wage budget for incoming players.

With the need to cash in on stones to show a profit in order to riase the wage bill significantly why reduce that budget by doing this. Wait another year to see how he does this season and then offer an extention when he has a year left.

But start to over complicate play. Injuries and form dip.

2015 - Longer hair Baines. Not afraid to embrace his new found ethos.

2016 - Modern Baines. Refined. Slick. Yet completely Balanced.
