2017/18 Leighton Baines

I can't believe what I'm reading. The last 2 games I think Baines is the only 1 of the snr players who actually looks like he cares and has been trying to do something about it. As others have said it's impossible for him to get forward when there is no one in front of him. If we start playing with a left midfielder we might start seeing more of an attacking threat

He jogs forward, waves his arms (saying he has no pass on) turns and passes to Williams who then passes to Schneiderlin...who passes back to him.

Every single game he waves his arms...does my head in.

It does my head in that there is no one for him to pass to because Koeman has decided to play without width and have 5 CMS standing within 4 foot of each other in the middle of the park

Massive fan of Leighton, but he either is on a massive downward spiral or is suffering from not having a Steven Pienaar type in front of him to play actual football with.

He is still one of the better passers at the club, if someone shows for him 9 out of 10 he will find them, its just unfortunate that the middle is so congested and he has no wingers to pass too.

I have a lot of love for Bainesy....he's having a shocker though. Still look like if he's giving it a go.....cant say that about Schneiderlan.......absolute disgrace.

Do you think maybe he is waving his arms for a reaason? Or do you expect him to beat the 3 men in between him and the by line and whip it in every time.

Baines worked so well with Pienaar because it was give and go, pienaar's movement was exceptional, you could of tied a 20 yard rope around the 2 of them and that rope would never tighten, he cant do much when he is so iscolated on that side.

People complained that Kenny was to high up the pitch for a right back against Limassol, same reaason.........................nothing infront of him. If he had a player infront of him playing give and go, he could start deeper, overlap and get forward better

It's his last season, it has to be.

Great player for the club and will always have fond memories of him. Let's not tarnish that by flogging a dead horse by selecting him week in, week out.

This is what leighton baines see's when he looks up for options to pass too
