2017/18 Leighton Baines

We simply don't have another left back, so don't understand people criticising him tbh. We'd be in an even bigger hole without him.

In the last minute he finally managed to move his lazy backside up the left hand side and run with the ball, his cross was just too high for gashley. Why didnt you do that all game? Cant be arsed can you baines?

Baines has indeed been poor recently, but this is nonsense. It has very little to do with being lazy and more to do with the fact that he's 32 and is being asked to play pretty much every single game for us.

A few seasons back he was second choice behind Oviedo and then struggled to get a game when Galloway was a better bet.

Why is this feller still here? Are we really suggesting a top four challenging team (which is what we have to be headed toward in terms of ambition) can find a starting spot for Leighton Baines?

Completely with you.

think everyone is being very harsh here, he missed massive chunks of last season with what appeared to be a career ending multitude of ankle injuries, hes now played 13 games already this season, pretty sure the full 90 each time, us failing to get cover in the summer was criminal

Not as good as he once was but honestly, some of the comments in here.

Pretty much every time he got the ball on Sunday he had no one moving in front of him. Too many forward players in and around the centre of the pitch and only once (Davies) did someone make a run into the opposition right back area. Suddenly there was then options for him and more space for other players. The way we set up, all he could do was pass back to Schneiderlin or Williams, try and run the length of the pitch and put a cross in or just lump it to the edge of the box.

He's an easy scapegoat. The whole way we attack is rubbish, it's not just down to Baines.
