Russian Revolution - 'socialism in one country' killed it dead. It's either a global system or a perversion.* Just like the *Capitalism* we have now is a perversion: manufacturing industry propped up by central government handouts; financial sector pushing money derivatives around like confetti...and then getting bailed out by governemt.



*Trotsky knew, that's why he was exiled and butchered by agents of the *Socialist* Soviet state bureacracy.
 
Can someone explain in nice simple english what communism is and why it went wrong.

I think i know but i'm not too sure.

*It* didn't go wrong. It was never in existence. What you believe to be communism were centralised economies run by bureaucracies. What would a communist society look like? Not even the giants of Marxism/Leninism could agree on that.

Communism\Socialism in it's pure form is a wonderful idea, I've been lucky to live in a communist country for a while, but human nature messes things up a bit. Basically, were a tad greedy and want to better than our neighbours.

And therein , Leader , lies the problem .
I have never lived under Communism but have spent many months in various countries , which , while you're there , you live there , although you sleep on a ship in the harbour . I experienced their daily lives . Indeed , I was there when me Da died and I missed his Funeral as a result . Indeed , I didn't even know he was dead until I rang from the Kiel canal . They were on their way to bury him .
THAT's how paranoid the society was .
I have to admit here , me Da was a Union man . Quite high up . I was spoonfed Socialism as a kid - yes , kids actualy DID Politics in those days . Get the fuk !!! -; but going there , seeing 8 preople doing one mans job . Nisch in the shops , yet all-night strip-clubs with champers and caviar , and top Russky vodka , flowing like water .
Highly contradictory . Highly intresting though .
 
Wealth is measured purely in monetary terms rather than in levels of education or health or the dignity of each and every citizen.

A man can be educated and cultured but not have money and therefore be considered poor.

Another man may have money to burn but not have intelligence through education and will be admired by others simply because of his perceived 'wealth'.

Give me a man that can buy anything he wants without thought and I'll show you a man that has nothing.
Give me a man that will share his knowledge and find joy in doing so and I will show you a man that has boundless riches in his words.

I agree fully.
Thankfully, personal fulfilment is not measured in wealth.

I win millions on the lottery and I am going to spend spend spend and I won't care what anyone says because I'll be sitting on my yacht with a strawberry daquiri, and a big fat cigar.

Hey, when I have made the cash I don't really care. Controversial it may be, but you show me a government who cares about it's citizens.

At the end of the day, the only people that matter are you, your family and your close friends. Everything else is just landscape.

While , you are Il Duce , I respectfully beg to differ on this one .
I don't mean you need pots , but a semblence of dollar is mandatory to attain even a reasonable existence .
Sitting here skint , and ill , as it goes , but just on the skint one , it's pretty difficult to approach , for example , a lady , and say ,
" Hey , sweet cheeks . I'm dead clever , and I'm the nicest lad in 10 streets , but I haven't got a pound note . You want to boogie ??? Or some such pearls . " One's chances are not brilliant . Irrespective of looks , by the way .

I get what you's are saying but ask most skint people , I believe would concur .

Point mate.
But some of the happiest people I know, have nothing. Nor do they yearn wealth.
Being hypocritical, as I mostly am, I feel better when I have a few quid in the bank but then I will never reach the fulfillment of those I mentioned prior.

Well it's whatever makes you happy and for me that would be driving a car with a nice engine over a spluttering rust bucket.
