Ok true but thats getting away from the original point.

Emotional needs are a seperate issue.

Once man has been able to provide himself with food and shelter to survive other material wants is just greed.

Fine, emotional needs can help be satisfied with material gains but its not essential and certainly only up to a point.

in a perfect world it would work a treat!! but when its not perfect it goes very wrong MOST TIMES! as in having a nutter running it!

well thats the way i see it but im thick anyway so that dont matter!

So basically a happy man is a greedy man?

Food and Shelter = Pot Noodle and a Tent. Is that a happy lifestyle? Nope.
 
I don't think I said that money wasnt important, I just said that monetary wealth is all that is considered in terms of a person's wealth.
Everyone would prefer to have the means to make a choice and have better than what they had before but there must come a point when the right balance should be found.

I also do the lottery and if I did win, of course I would spend it on lots of things but I would never see the need to buy things just because I could.

I'm very fortunate that I have had a good education, not just through school and university but because I had a father that brought me up to understand that there is more to being wealthy than having lots of money. At least I have had the opportunity to make those choices in my life.
There are people today that will never receive a proper education in any shape or form and their only aim in life will be to become rich, regardless of how they do it.

I don't think anyone means literally the most basic human needs do they?
In the context of today's lifestyles it's not a Pot Noodle and a tent, it's a roof over your head and food on the table and the dignity of being able to provide for yourself and your family.

Having those basic requirements fulfilled is essential, everything that comes after that should be a personal choice.
