Osman has a superb first touch, great appreciation of space, an eye for a pass, an eye for goal - and he's a life-long Blue and a loyal one-club man.

Apart from that he's [Poor language removed].

He's a funny one Osman. I don't get the hate, he doesn't deserve that. Has taken one for the team for the majority of his career. Has very rarely had consistent playing times in best posistion, especially when he was in his prime.

That said I feel more often than not now we struggle when he starts. His role should be off the bench where there's no doubt he still has something to offer.

I'd hope for next season we'v brought in another player to start the games he's been starting this season but hope he remains another season and feel he will be valuable for EL.

Osman is one of the most smartest players in the team.
But intelligence isn't a quality valued highly by fans, we can see it in the Cleverley thread("I don't know what he does on the pitch", "He doesn't get goals or assists"). Most people want to see flashy passes, brainless runs and powerful players.

We need a better player than him but he is a really good squad player.

His role will be even lesser in the team next season.

Probably will play at home more against the mid lower table teams.

Love the arrogance of the osman fan club, anyone who doesn't rate him just isn't a intelligent football fan

Fan club? In my opinion he should not be a regular starter for us.

I think there is a double standards with this.
Osman starts and he has a crap game, then he is replaced by Barkley and team becomes better. ->
the "Osman is sh*t" storm begins.

Dont get me wrong I used to like Osman as a player but his legs have deserted him now He came of the bench against Southampton but could you please tell me what he done ok one thing a penalty shout but I seen him give many a passes away but for me he has cost us points this season Sunderland being one of the games I Carnt see we're bobby is coming from with his 3-4 years left in him the man is slow and light wieght I will probably get a bashing of the Osman lovers on here but we need better payers if we want to progress next season.

I'm in the Osman fan club, but he can't be starting every game, Osman is crucial against the teams who park the proverbial bus, he can unlock their defence most of the time. But against the counter attackers he's a passenger, simply doesn't have the legs needed to race box to box, deffo handy to have from the bench though. I'll be sad when he finally goes, but until we find a suitable replacement (i.e Ross Barkley) he's crucial to us.

*Prepares from the Osman haters backlash*

Kevin Campbell type contract extensions for him and Howard -- yet Distin only a year.

Very odd indeed + doubt he will be a mainstay next season and Howard unlikely to be number one quality when hes 38/39...

Not particularly, Distin is very much reliant on his pace, once that goes he won't be good enough. Neither Osman nor Howard are particularly reliant on pace nor strength in their game.
