He's only said Moyes was doing what's right for his club, he's hardly making some outlandish statement is he? He's hardly drawn a line in the sand with him and Moyes on one side and the the baying mob on the other, because really when you read it and rationalise what's been printed it amounts to the square root of f'all.

People just want to moan about it because they don't like Osman, it would be very different if St.Cahill said it. But I bet they both hold very similar views.
Yes. It would certainly be different. And Osman should know that. We rationalize the people we know give their heart to the club. Osman has never been one that has won over the fans that way.

This could well be a hatchet job by the Echo, and we should hold judgement until the full quotes are released but:
It’s disappointing how sour it has since turned between the fans and Moyes after he bought Fellaini and tried to get Leighton Baines. He should be welcomed back to Goodison whenever he wants to come but it’s not the case at the moment and that’s really upsetting. I’m disappointed in it all.

‘Far too much was made of what happened with Fellaini and Baines. Moyes was doing what we had employed him to do for all those years – strengthen his squad in whatever way he saw fit.
sounds like he fundamentally doesn't understand that the fans are upset because of 'plucky little Everton' rather than a stupid transfer saga. That was just the framework for the absolute bullocks the man spewed about our club.

I'm not saying what he said was wrong in a vacuum. I'm saying that Osman saying it was stupid.

I wouldn't be happy if Cahill made those comments but he's not still playing for the club and his performances on the pitch would have bought him a bit of leeway. Osman has been gash on the pitch for the best part of 11 years. Him making comments like these is obviously going to annoy people.

So you'd be fine with these comments if Cahill or another player said them.

Just proves my point really doesn't it, people know it's nothing to get worked up about they just want to because it's Osman. That's a very classy attitude to have, remember that when your laughing at the RS and claiming the moral high ground.

I dont like Osman for a myriad reasons

1/ I disagree with Osman about Tim Cahill here. He deserved a send off.

2/ I don't think Moyes or Phil Neville deserved a guard of honour, they should've just left.

3/ Feels all a bit 'storm in a teacup' to me if I'm honest. A little too close to 'crying and shaking here' on Twitter at least, but I get some folks' disappointment.

4/ If Osman was a member here, he'd have been kitt'd for this.

So it's more about your perception of Osman ability than the comments he's made that annoy you, so it's agenda driven.

I never said anything about my feelings towards the comments.

I said the comments were stupid. I also said the reaction to the comments would be different if another player had said them. It would be less vitriolic if Cahill or Big Dunc or Joe Royle had said them. We all know that. They've earned (in the eyes of the vast majority) leeway.

If Koldrup or Bily had said them, no one would even notice, except maybe to lol.

What you don't seem to realize is that Osman made a tactical error here by making these statements while playing for the club.

He's taking a stance against his own fanbase while we're still supposed to cheer for him.

That's just dumb.

Edited to add:
I don't appreciate the comparison with Kopites because I'm rationally disagreeing with your assessment.

He was his manager for 11 years and obviously respected him. Whatever people think of Moyes now, his time at Everton was filled with some very good times and we probably would not be looking at the team we have now if it wasn't for him. He did not have the mentality to take us to the next level which (hopefully) Martinez does but a player during that time showing respect to their previous manager is not as big a deal as some may make out.

I was personally a bit surprised that Cahill came out last but does that mean that I don't understand Everton fans either. Not saying I didn't think it was right or wrong but it was a send off for Moyes and that would normally mean that the man would be introduced last in any situation.
Far too much common sense in this post you obviously haven't seen the YouTube videos linking osman to the illuminati and the murders of both tupac & biggie!!

With regards to Cahill it all sounds tinged with jealousy. He didn't need to come out and say what he was thinking he could have kept it to himself. Cahill never got a proper send off from the fans and I feel it was apt he walked out to the crowd. Doesn't matter what order it was done in but it seems that Osman took umbrage then tried to let all the players know his feelings by trying to embarrass Cahill on the night out.
