No. It does. You're just on a defend Ossie rampage.

Simple:
The agenda is to protect our legends. If they say daft things (Hi Big Nev!) we ignore them or paper them over.

If a player isn't a legend, we don't ignore it.

Ossie isn't a legend. He said something stupid. He's getting slated. The agenda doesn't factor into it.

If you ignore the same or similar comment of a "legend" that's not an agenda that's choosing to do or say nothing, if you decided that a lesser player needs taking to task for a comment based on his ability and popularity that's agenda driven.

True. Nobody bats an eyelid when Big Joe Royle finishes each sentence by saying "white is right," or when Mike Walker suggested Marxism is the folly of fools.

Ah, but here is were we disagree. You are insinuating that the vitriol here is being driven by an agenda.

I'm saying that it's not. There is an agenda that exists. It would be to protect our legends. But it doesn't come into play here. This is the natural state - stupidity gets called out and abused.

Regardless of the factual accuracy of the comments. Regardless of whether I care if he holds those opinions (hint, I don't). What he said was stupid. You are seeing the honest backlash of a fanbase that feels as though one of their own has slated them.

The fact we would let Cahill get away with that doesn't mean we should let Osman (or indeed Cahill) get away with it. Many people feel legitimately aggrieved that one of their 'own' wouldn't understand where they're coming from.

And Osman should have known better than to open his mouth on the subject before retirement.

Yes I am, and when you read comments that are directed at his ability and popularity it's easy to see which posters do hold the agenda. And then when You openly admit that more popular players wouldnt be subject to the same vitriol surely you must see the irony.

Like I've said from the beginning, when you rationally digest the comments he's not saying anything controversial or outlandish but certain people want to make the most out of it simply because they don't like him.

I disagree.

Evertonians on the whole are still very much anti-David Moyes and very much pro-Tim Cahill. And while he does not out and out side with one over the other, the quotes lead one to believe that Osman disagrees with his fans and thinks that Moyes should be held in high regard.

Simple fact of an entertainer - don't argue with your fans. Especially when your fans aren't especially enamoured with you to begin with. He was stupid. And we're seeing the fallout of that.

Of course there is a small, vocal (highly amusing to me) minority on this board that enjoy taking the urine from Osman. Those are not the only people upset with his comments. Because his comments side with his former manager over his current fans.

Is that wrong? No, of course not. He knows and likes Moyes personally while we've all been the faceless tits shouting abuse at him.

Is it stupid? Of course it is.

And I'm not saying more popular players would get away with it. I'm saying honest to god legends and cult heroes would.

Do you think Pienaar would get away with it? Or Jags? Or Distin? They're all more popular, but I'd expect a similar fallout for them.

This.

The comments were stupid. Osman obviously knows Moyes on a very personal level and feels sorry for everything that has happened to him. He's defending his close friend, but to come out with the comment about Cahill was a little stupid. Cahill left on a high note, Moyes left on a low note. The majority of fans are going to side with Cahill, which instantly means Osman's comments are going to be taken to heart.

That whole send off for Moyes was ridiculous, he should have been locked out of Goodison when he agreed to become UTD's manager.

Celebrating 10+ years of Mediocre Moyes, absolute joke. Thankfully Neville and Round went with him.

Behave mate. You're getting carried away with that bit. Lets not forget the work he did here because we've had 18 months of attractive footy under Martinez. I was fine with the applause he got. He saw his chance at a bigger club and wanted a fresh challenge; i've got no problem with that at all. Over-all though, his work here was certainly not mediocre.
