True, he was alright in that sense but didn't do enough to create IMO. Having said that, Pienaar was on fire so maybe it was just a case of giving it to him.

Maybe on another day I'd be saying how well he played, but some outstanding performances from others overshadowed him.

Yeah. He weren't as high up the pitch as I'd have wanted but today it was good enough just to give it to more dangerous players who where in good positions.

Played a few nice through balls though, from what I remember.

After the 'drop Barkley for the easy games and then play him in the big one' plan backfired spectacularly when we threw away four points and then didn't even win the derby either, it was nice to see us not lose a step today and keep Ross fresh for wednesday. Good management.

Leon played well today; it was a very good team performance, and that's what matters. Credit to Martinez for managing his squad. No favourites, all important.

Credit where credit's do, after starting Osman for all but one of the first 11 league games, Martinez has dropped him for 3 of the last 4 (and he was fine in the one game he did start).

Osman's a good squad player. As long as that's how he's used I'm happy. Won us the Villa game, will have a few more performances like that in him this season.

He got toasted by Jenkinson Peter Reid style when he came on. He shouldn't be near the first 11, whether he's tidy on the ball or not. Use him like we did today only.

Osman is not a winger to replace SP there was a mistake - he has no pace on the flank so when he moved inside he is ok for 20 mins!

Great guy to have on the bench and bring on. Will be more than useful this month too with so many games and the McCarthy suspension.
