My opinion?

We never, ever had £8.5m to pay upfront.

Instead, it was likely to be approx £3m and instalments.

Twente haven't appreciated this, and want more upfront to fund other transfers.

(Also, unorthodox approach by the Club to announce the deal so prematurely was a tad odd?)

Still keep coming back to this post.

It seems to me that the only thing the club has done wrong is jump the gun with the announcement. If he has a medical problem, however slight, then they are right to try and renegotiate, especially based on appearances. Twente will be wary now knowing that this 'problem' is in the public domain and may stifle further attempts at a sale. I know we've gone mental on here at the prospect of a new signing but 90% of us had no idea who he was two days ago.

I think the real reason some went mental was the prospect of the board spending some money

People have fallen for it again haven't they? How many times does this actually happen to one club? The board are taking us for mugs imo

Exactly right. I still think he'll come though. Him going back to Holland is perfectly normal. What's he supposed to do here while EFC and Twente thrash out terms? His personal terms and medical have been completed.

I heard some clown say 'Just sign him'. Surely we have to back the club on this one. They have minimal funds and don't want to splurge them all on one crock.

Lets see what happens. There will be other transfer targets if this falls through.

Why mate?

Would you rather we signed a player with a crocked knee? Bit weird if your answer is yes.

Imagine Everton is a shop. Would you want us to buy is dodgy knock off stock that we wouldn't be able to sell on? Again, bit weird if you think yes.
