Leroy Fer

I sort of factor in the possibility (probability) that the club has their little helpers they set to work on forums like this to skew opinion their way, but there's loads of honest to goodness genuine supporters who fall for it hook, line and sinker each time without too much influencing.

HILARIOUS. The club don't really care what you or I think and the fact that you would even think that they would bother to go to lengths like that is preposterous.

At this stage and with all the caveats that no official statement from the club today, it strikes me that the biggest mistake EFC made was putting the news on the OS on Monday as if a done deal.

IF it is the case that his knee is somewhat risky, then EFC are quite correct to go back and seek to renegotiate the terms, prior to signing a formal contract, based on new (medical) information that was not available to them when they agreed terms in principle with Twente last Monday.

If you look at it from Twente's point, if this does not go through, they will be looking at an unhappy player returning to their squad having had his high hopes of PL football dashed; his value will have been diminished because now everyone knows or suspects he may have knee issues; and they will not have any of the transfer funds from the deal available for new players before the deadline tomorrow.

Overall, with the exception of having gone public too early, EFC appear to me to be currently acting sensibly in relation to this.

They had better have a Plan B lined up though !!

Another collosal **** up from Everton if this one doesn't go through. When will they learn?

Imagine announcing it on the official site when the deal isn't even agreed!
The deal was agreed . He failed a medical Ffs. Do you not know how a transfer works ?

We have been after a solid central midfielder nearly every transfer window now for the last few years, and every one of them has hit a snag.

I just don't understand why they never negotiated the deal reference his injury before bringing him over, everyone knew he had a bad injury.

Yeah, but the difference here is that we all know RVP and Robben by reputation and the fact that they are Dutch internationals doesn't matter. My point was that some of us think that because Fer has been selected for the Dutch squad he must be good. If that really was always the case then why do some of us criticise Heitinga. Also, Andy VDM didn't work out did he?

You can apply that logic to any country really. Michael Rickets got an England Cap as did Dave Nugent. They didn't work our either. I'm sure you could do this for every European football team perhaps bar Spain.

It never fails to stagger me the constant amount of goodwill and benefit of the doubt given to the club when stuff like this happens. I sort of factor in the possibility (probability) that the club has their little helpers they set to work on forums like this to skew opinion their way, but there's loads of honest to goodness genuine supporters who fall for it hook, line and sinker each time without too much influencing.

Here's what what's in front of us (and correct me if I'm wrong on any of this): we stand on the cusp of a serious CL tilt going into the second half of the season and we need bodies in to make a decent fist of it. IF we get people then that's great. IF we get no one in having had all this time to sort it, the club needs damning. I think that's a reasonable overview of where were at and how we should be viewing the present mess.

Hahaha that's the best one I've heard that. You've defo got paranoia you mate.

The deal was agreed . He failed a medical Ffs. Do you not know how a transfer works ?

Has he failed the medical?

I thought the doctors have said that his knee is fine to play PL football, but Everton are trying to make a mountain over a molehill over a little bit of fluid or something?

obviously the money and details were different but id take a guess that lescotts knees were more of a risk and even more so louis saha's. damn , he was held together by cellotape and blutak !

i understand why the club are being cautious but i also understand why fans are frustrated . the trumpeting on the os of his arrival was poor judgment imo especially after the ofoe and banega sagas.

on ofoe , why was he good enough to sign last transfer window but not this one ? i find that very strange .
