There are risks and then there is plain stupidity. We wouldn't want to pay out a large transfer fee and be committed to a long contract for a player who could be vulnerable to a serious injury.

If he was to sign and then be out long term, we'd be screwed. We can't sign someone like that. The club found a problem they weren't expecting to which changed everything. Fair play. You don't "take a chance" with these things. We'd be idiots to do that. Idiots. This is Everton, we have no money to be risking on players like that. It's a shame but we move on. We did NOT have to have known in advance about his injury, we were RIGHT to have concerns over the fact that he's constantly in danger of long term injury, as we were blowing most of our budget on him and we were right not to go through with it in the end when they weren't willing to budge.
