Leroy Fer

Lads. It's frustrating but while the media release might've put our hopes up the club did the right minimizing financial risks. I'd even go as far to say the deal might still happen. Also there's plenty more fish in the sea.

It's perfectly reasonable not to buy a player with a high injury risk for so much money. What's not reasonable is waiting till the very end to get the ball rolling. If this deal wasn't 100%, the club should have tried to get business done earlier so we could sign someone else if the deal fell through.

I won't care at all about this if we sign someone else tomorrow. But honestly what are the odds of that, unless they're on a plane to merseyside as we speak.

harsh to say this, but i really hope he does have an injury ravaged career (nothing against the lid like)

let's just hope for the clubs sake that he's more mikael forsell than demba ba

really need to turn our attention to a couple more targets sharpish though - would have been useful if we didn't have a game bang in the middle like - all signs point to it not being a happy result with the way today has gone

Wouldn't want to be the BBC/Sky reporter having to interview Moyes after the game tonight. They have to ask about Fer and know he will not give a smiley pleasant answer. Be worse if we don't win.

doesn't it require cartilage to be taken out every time the meniscus is repaired?

if we werent careful we could of signed ledley king for £8.6 million. Look where he is now

just sayin

to those saying he failed a medical - is that definitely true. I heard he had more tests than usual but in the end he was cleared. The fact he needed the additional tests raised concerns which led to the club trying to renegotiate the deal. I'm not sure saying he failed the medical is entirely correct though.

I agree with the club on this one. We have so little money that it needs to be spent carefully. Disappointed but it's not the end of the world - have never even seen him play so i'm not going to cry about it

Actually I'm pretty positive about having enough time to get replacements in. The club have likely talked to a bunch of targets already before trying to sign Fer and they'll continue to do so tomorrow and I'd be surprised if we don't get someone similiar in. My stance differs a bit that I won't fume tonight but will fume tomorrow if there isn't a replacement :). My gut feeling tells me that Everton, who didn't drop the negotiations completely after finding something suspicious about his knee might try to force Twente's hand seeing that their chairman seems to have an equally hard stance.

Or the club/agent/player have phones, maybe even a computer that has internet access and maybe a fax machine.

King is an excellent example of what can happen with some players. Jimmy Bullard and Sean David are others. Some people just want to concentrate on the Ba's and the Lescott's as it suits their agenda to do so. We can't afford to take risks in the transfer market and Moyes knows this
