doesn't it require cartilage to be taken out every time the meniscus is repaired?

if we werent careful we could of signed ledley king for £8.6 million. Look where he is now

just sayin
That is the thing, I am not medically savvy so have no idea how bad this injury/problem might be later on. I trust our medics to get it right. One thing always sticks in my mind, when Michael Vaughan had all his knee problems as England cricket captain Jack Bannister said on radio "When you have a knee, you have got a knee, it doesn't go away it remains and causes more problems". Would imagine it is far worse for a footballer than a cricketer as well.

the ball is in Twente's court.
they dont need the money and no one else has put in a bid.
Our only hope of a sale now is the players head being turned and maybe him throwing in a transfer request to force twente into a negotiation?

to those saying he failed a medical - is that definitely true. I heard he had more tests than usual but in the end he was cleared. The fact he needed the additional tests raised concerns which led to the club trying to renegotiate the deal. I'm not sure saying he failed the medical is entirely correct though.

I agree with the club on this one. We have so little money that it needs to be spent carefully. Disappointed but it's not the end of the world - have never even seen him play so i'm not going to cry about it

Correct mate, he never failed his medical, hence why we still wanted to buy him.

King is an excellent example of what can happen with some players. Jimmy Bullard and Sean David are others. Some people just want to concentrate on the Ba's and the Lescott's as it suits their agenda to do so. We can't afford to take risks in the transfer market and Moyes knows this

King is a CB too, not as much running, tackling as a mid. DM/box to box mids with knee problems are an accident waiting to happen. Too much running, too much getting tackled. Look at Holden. Arteta was never the same after a serious knee injury either. Oh well, still time for a panic buy or 2.

Fellani has already has a couple knee injuries playing that position as well.

Do feel a bit sorry for Fer. By all accounts it sounds like he's a decent lad who wanted to come here and after three days has basically been left with his cock in his hand and a return to Holland.

I have just had a call from a mate in the game, not linked with Everton but another Club and this is what he said.... the deal collapsed because Everton wanted to change the terms of payment these were believed to be in the region of £4m upfront and the rest in staged payments over 12 months. However a Club of one of Moyes other "targets" said they could speak to the "target" (I dont know who) and therefore to be able to afford this other "target" had to speak to Twente and restructure a deal. Twente were not interested in what was being offered and the deal collapsed. I trust this person as he is never normally wrong, make what you will of it.

People are comparing him to really injury prone players... fact is he's only had one bad injury with his knee, And he was only out for 2 months, Not a season or anything, Since he's been back from that injuries all reports say he's been better than before.

fellaini was out for months after the kyriagos stomp

he's now wanted by chelsea and valued at over 20 mil

why is his injury any different to the one fer had where it was a one-off and hasn't stopped him since.

So your ITK has indicated the club has gone back to Twente and said 'we can get a better deal elsewhere - match it'?

so our poor financial situation has restricted what we can do and may have cost us a double deal as we have been unable to manouver enough up front fees for Moyes's other target?
Bill?

The way I read it, the club went back to twente and said can we change giving you £4 million up front. And have probably used his knee injury as an excuse for changing it.
To free up some funds to sign someone else as well.

Yeah, that makes sense of Graeme's post too.
