Up the PSR dodging toffees. Great start to the summer.

How does this work?

We take Tim from them, they take Lewis from us.

Round about the same fee presumably so no “real” money changing hands ergo no injection of cash for EFC.

How does doing that get us round the PSR thingy?

The fees don’t get paid now, but they get put as the full amount on this years accounts as pure profit, which prevents both clubs from being near to breaching. So both players sign 3 year deals, at a cost of £3.3m a year but the accounts will show £10m

The exact same thing as us.
I'd heard people saying (don't know if it's true or not) that we just bank our fee at 100% profit, yet the fee we paid for the lad coming is in staged payments so it doesn't go on to the debits. That's what i was getting at re. what's in it for them 👌 My Man Utd mate seems to be all upset with what he calls "cheating", a bonus for me, as he values Branthwaite at 35m:lol:

Where there is a set fee, you recognise the full profit on the sale of an asset (a player in this case) on the day the contract is completed for the sale. A player who came through an academy will have a very low value (maybe even nil value) because no fee was paid to buy them, so the transfer is pretty much all profit.

You then write off the value of the player's fee over the course of the contract. So the profit on the sale will be in the June 24 financial year and the amortisation cost on our new signing will be in future accounts, depending on the length of the contract.

It's not cheating, it's just accounting rules.

That's how it works. So what's in it for them is exactly the same.
