Line up for the rest of the season

Possibly our best XI until Mina can come in for Branthwaite. If any of that XI can't play we dont have much depth of backup though.

As close to the best line up, however i doubt Branthwaite will be a regular starter now.
I'd still prefer Coleman to Holgate at RB. Only once Mina is back this set up i would use in the more difficult games.

Midfield: maybe start Alli in some games

Front: a fit Gray definitely needs in. But with a lot of games coming up i'd say some rotation can be used.
Like in games where we need to defend more i prefer Gray-Richy-Gordon

agreed! For some games we need more polish (Dele/Gray) and for some we need more grit(even Townsend/Gomes). Lampards got a big job on his hands - I hope Clement is up to it!

What a thoroughly depressing thread to see any combination of those “defenders”. What I do know and have seen on numerous occasions is that playing 5 of them is just as bad defensively as playing 4 of them. As soon as Keane is taken out there’s nobody left to win headers either and our set piece problems return. It’s been 25 years since I last played championship manager so as it stands now with the current fitness form etc this would be my team for home games only. Godfrey is a must because of his pace so if Branthwaite was central I’d put Godfrey at either full back instead.

Big issues tho:
Lampard won't play Patterson - don't know why (and don't know why we signed him to not play him)
Mina & Keane would be preferred CB pairing but Mina not fit & Keane in horrid form - Holgate & Keane would have to do, despite poor showings
Need 3 in midfield - Allan needs to anchor and support back 2 and Douc & DVB need to burst forward - Lamprd won't play three tho (who am I to question professional coach and multi-time PL/FA Cup/Champ league winner also)
Gordon, Richi & Grey are the best we have up front despite poor form - injuries haven't helped - but best in terms of quality & FIGHT

This is sadly a tough 11 to pick - especially the back 4 - things are not looking good

Rotate Alli and Gray to keep it fresh. I think Gordon would suit that role in front of 2 holding midfielders.

Just not 5 at the back FFS. We clearly need 3 in the middle in midfield due to how awful and generally slow we are in there.

God knows what we do at right back, as it’s sad to see Seamus as he is currently, Kenny is well.. yeah, Lampard clearly doesn’t rate or trust Patterson currently.

Gordon to feature heavily and brought on as soon as Gray or Richarlison aren't making an impact/or if DCL needs replacing and Richarlison putting up front.

Would also give Townsend regular time off the bench for his workrate.
