Inflammable Material is an essential album for that age group, and one of THE greatest ever covers in Johnny Was

Genesis, foxtrot, been listening to this since 1973, just brilliant, soz, can't do pictures.

The thing is though is that 'Supper's ready' hasn't really got a chorus.

The final cut .... I nearly listed that one as my favourite Floyd album, but Wish you were here got it as despite viewing them on par, WYWH was my first love, with pink floyd.

Deerhunter - Microcastle is a another one for me I guess. Just an album of vibes. A lot of it stems from my dad always telling me everyone has to have great lyrics or play the guitar in a structured way, and me realising it's not true

It also reminds me of going to their ATP and my gf hanging around with Bradford Cox all weekend and ignoring me

It's impossible for me to over-emphasise how important Inflammable Material was to me. It helped me make sense of the madness of the Troubles. Many, many great albums but this one literally changed how I viewed things.

you reminded me I didn't even include anything from my Uni days.....

The Clash- Give em enough Rope
The difficult second album took the fire of punk and turned it into storytelling

The Jam- The Modern World, like above showed anger and angst can be controlled and observant, Weller began to give directions as well as observations.

Prefab Sprout- Steve McQueen. If you know it you'd understand. One of the greatest wordsmiths this country has produced.

Cocteau Twins- Victorialand. Of all their works this shines a light on Guthrie's music production, but above all Liz Fraser's voice, at her ethereal best (close to Moon and the Melodies).

Propaganda- A Secret Wish. Pre new beat thundering electronic pop, stunning production from Trevor Horn and Claudia Brückens voice sings out above it all.

VA- Techno 2- the next generation. Weird that a compilation shifted that much, but along with Biorythms was the soundtrack to journeys to many an illicit rendezvous

Steely Dan- Aja. Everyone should own it.

2 of my top 5 there - The Dan and Prefab Sprout. Both incredible albums

Really surprised Quadraphinia by the who isn't mentioned.
Seems a mid life crisis thing,buying a scooter, that is.
I take great delight in telling mid life crisisers...I had one of them when I was 16.

I probably like Rising better but 'Since You've Been Gone' and then 'Down to Earth' was my first introduction to Rainbow.

Still are. Jake's put on a bit of timber, like but they still put on a good show. Tight band. Last saw them in Belfast with the Undertones who were also brilliant.
