We had the misfortune after the 0-5 at GP in 82 to have them diverted onto the Dublin overnight ferry because P&O to Belfast was on strike.

An absolute nightmare, as they ran riot all night looking for Fenian Everton fans. Scumbags back then too.

Is it just me but I seem to think that at the start of the 85/86 season Liverpool were playing at home(Arsenal?) and they had a service of remembrance for the dead of Heysel, led by Archbishops Shepherd and Worlock on the pitch, and it was roundly booed by their gracious fans.

For certain Northern and Scottish loyalists, anyone from the Republic, or UK citizens who are from an Irish Nationalist background are derogatively described as Fenians or Taigs.

As Dublin ESC members heading home we were therefore targets for these charming people.
