Liverpool Echo & Everton

Keep being vocal with our thoughts. That way more of the fan base may actually get some education on important issues regarding the club they are not getting exposed to by the newspaper or the club.
"Kopite rag" "Stopped reading it ages ago" "Rawk / Bawk behaviour" all have to be binned.
Firstly when we have an ally like O'Keefe use him in the right way instead of the dogs abuse he got.
Complete change is needed otherwise we'll always be seen as "The Other Club in the City".
Not to say we should agree with all thats wrote about us,but respond in a contructive way.
If we dont the coverage will not change.....If you dont use your voice no one will hear you.

People need to look at the Echo's fellow Trinity Mirror Group newspaper, the Newcastle Chronicle.

They won't help the Newcastle fans in their crusade against Mike Ashley either, for exactly the same reasons - financial self interest, favours and access from the club. Lucrative deals and access that allows them to create content that keeps them alive.

It's a running theme amongst Trinity Mirror Group newspapers - there is no desire for investigative journalism. They don't want to bite the hand that feeds them.

It's going to have to come from somewhere else, the Echo won't do it.

Stan Collymore did a show on us (on the status of the club and its sale) after we lost the FA cup quarterfinal to Wigan. IIRC he was the one that got someone at the club to name the £125 million asking price. We need more like that.

Unfortunately pieces of real journalism like that are few and far between.

Isn't that what some Evertonians tried to do and then the Echo went and shafted them?

There appears to be a lot of bad feeling, rightly, towards the Red Echo I wonder if a public meeting can be set up to voice Evertonians hatred / concerns / proposed boycott and show the rag that they need to get their finger out and question the rabble we have in the boardroom, not forgetting Elstones role, that enough is enough and they need to question the goings on and look into the dark corners at L4.

The sooner this is done the better and before the AGM.

I think the Echo should print a full page apology to Everton fans for the coverage they've given for a generation. It's been patronising and intentionally shallow - a pale imitation of the crusading/fan like journalism they offer LFC (which should be what all local rags do for their local supporters).

If that editor of theirs was serious about listening to feedback and changing that paper for the better then they have to address the chronic standards of journalism offered to half its readership regarding their football club. Heads should roll in that sports department. The Everton designated reporters need to be sacked (with the exception of Kirkbride) and we should accept no Liverpool supporter as their replacements. They dont have to be Everton supporters, btw, just objective and with an investigative pedigree.
YES DAVE.

Wait a minute, doesn't crying Kristian Walsh write for the Everton page as well?

I know it's a job and all that but I'd feel kind of uncomfortable having to report on the RS games if I was an Echo journo. If I got used to it how could I not be critical (and enjoy it) whenever they screwed up? Naturally the RS fanbase would be pretty angry at all my (perceived, correctly) Everton bias so why shouldn't we feel the same when RS fans report on Everton?
