I got interrogated by the police today because I looked dodgy milling around waiting 15 minutes for my train filming the Elton John tribute act.

Fair enough.

Kun mä kaadan päälleni shampanjaa, aa aa. Niinku Cha Cha Cha!

Come on everybody! Finnish is a phonetic language. You can do it!

Eurovision is one those shows that people here (Croatia and rest of ex-Yu) love to mock and laugh at, and then everyone still watch it.

During time of old Yugoslavia there were various conspiracies (in joking manner) here that rest of "filthy" Europe hate us and they on purpose vote against us. And then we finally won in 1989 right before country collapsed, and then there were conspiracies that Europeans let us won on purpose to create "feel good" moment and stop collapse of the country.

What to say, people love conspiracies here.

Yes, but the rest of the city would be bemused at the attention given to it.

TBF, it might be Liverpool showing that they can bid for and host important events and competitions in the future. There's that possibility I suppose.

As you say it’s a showcase and a chance for the city to demonstrate its capabilities for other events…there will be some massive lessons learned by putting this on…..

Apart from the amount of money it`s bringing in, it`s doing the image of Liverpool as a destination, the world of good.

I genuinely love the Eurovision, it's always done in great spirit and even though Ireland have done horrendously in it the last decade, it is a fun, unique event that any city should be proud to host. Liverpool looks like it is doing a great job, I've always thought it was a genuinely beautiful city and now more people are getting to see that. I can't think of a single negative tbh

Maybe.

Two weeks of this though is stretching it a bit.

Haha trust you Dave lol

It's, objectively, been awesome for the city. Went to that Eurovision Village on the Pier Head earlier in the week and it was a great atmosphere. Already hearing loads of Europeans, including the acts themselves, saying that the whole setup & welcome from the people of Liverpool has been second to none.
