Good 2nd half covers over a lot of cracks. We looked a lot better when Rooney went off and Siggy went more central. Lookman was a threat. Jags and Holgate were excellent for the most part.

Hopefully Tosun will make a difference.

Be interesting to see if any action is taken against Firminio as Holgate has clearly accused him if racism.

And lallana gets a 2 game ban!

For me, final sub should have been Vlasic for Bolaise and kept DCL on. Think he would of kept them pinned back.

DCL wasn't doing anything though apart from loosing the ball a lot with poor hold up play

and the 2 flashpoints

1) Since when did the egg come before the chicken - for sure Holgate holds Lallana but it's apparently ok for him to run into Holgate and then throw a hissy fit (but we've already had this argument 3 weeks ago)

2) It's apparently ok for Firmino to elbow Holgate in the ribs (not mentioned) and, perhaps, to abuse him (agree there's a lot to talk about here)..

a) elbow in ribs - ban for Firmino
b) heavy push by Holgate - only considered violent by virtue of where Firmino lands so perhaps that's relevant
c) apparently Firmino now abuses Holgate by calling him a "son of a bitch" in Portuguese. Could be another ban's worth here..

But at least we had a go - and Jags looked as good as he has for a while.

As good as Rooney is, and as good as Siggy can be through the middle, one has to sit on the bench. We look so much better with 2 quick pacy wingers, and any 2 of Schneiderlin, Gueye, Davies and McCarthy sitting.

Would be great if Rooney could play in there with one of those in a deeper role

His goal record is poor, Siggy was in a good position. Hindsight has little to do with it, he should have chosen the option which is more likely to lead to a goal.

Doesn't matter a jot if his goal scoring record is poor. He had 2 options....shoot or pass. The ball sat up nicely to be hit so he did. Bet you if he passed and if we didn't score people would be crying that he should have shot so hindsight has a lot to do with it.
