Well I'm glad that puts to bed everyone calling for Simms far to raw for this league and looked pretty avg at Sunderland albeit scoring a few times. Has always far too slow. The problem is i don't know what we can do without a forward that likes to play with their back to goal. At least if we had signed Chris Wood as a back up we'd still be able to play this system.

I'm aware I'm praising Simms for doing the bare minimum. Which is win some headers and hold the ball up sometimes.

Maupay wouldn't even come close to doing these things. Simms is our best option, he's young and it's like his second appearance for us. So I'm cutting him some slack.

Maupay doesn't suit the lone role but neither does Simms.

I think a Derby game is the sort of game you want a piss burner like Maupay to get into their heads and force mistakes / give silly free kicks away.

Simms staying on is waving the White Flag for me.
