Wouldn't you get disheartened when you're given the ball from your goalkeeper and get pressed and the only people you can give it to in midfield can't control the ball and on the odd chance they do aren't capable of turning around with it

I sure would

Both him and Coleman were having that problem. Absolutely no one showing for either of them in that second half.

Hugely disappointed in him yesterday. He’s a senior player who has stepped in as captain on numerous occasions who’s played for some elite clubs but spends the whole game yesterday losing battles, making stupid mistakes and just generally looking scared of a 16 year old who isn’t exactly a household name. He should’ve been the one setting the example for the rest of the team. Yeah he was good last season but Christ he was bad yesterday.

This. He's also had a free pass from many this season, probably because of his good showing last year, but this years model is a big downgrade. Yesterday he looked petulant and ineffective at just the wrong moment.

Bang average player.
Why this guy is auto-picked over Baines every game is beyond me. The team lack creativity and Baines is probably our most creative player
Sorry but this is just a knee jerk reaction. He is going through a poor run of form and he was terrible yesterday along with every other outfield player in a blue shirt.

But Digne is a very good left back and you don't get to play for the teams he has done, including the world champions, if he was bang average.

Digne is a much better player when he has license to get forward and I believe he has been playing under orders recently. He is also better when he has Bernard in front of him and we saw signs last year of another Baines/Pienaar like relationship being formed. For me, that partnership needs to return and allowed to flourish.

He'll come good, of that I have no doubt.

I have not been impressed by Digne for quite a long time, but just hope that he recovers whatever it was that made him a good player before he came here.

Yes you are right. I think there's a 'baby with the bathwater' impulse today to get shut of the entire squad. Of course that's impossible, but even if there were a reset button, there is talent there if CA can address some of the tactical and mental issues holding them back.

This squad were capable of some terrific performances last season under Silva. I know we've lost Gana, plus I believe Sigurdsson's best days are now behind him, but the nucleus of that squad is still here. The best bits need to be harnessed and added to over the next few windows, and we can move forward under a world class manager.

Yesterday was quite possibly the worst performance I have ever seen from an Everton team, and I'm nearly 60. To put it into perspective, our own U23 team are better than the opponents who so easily outplayed us. But perhaps it was the jolt that we needed. I hope so.
