Exactly this.If you play a 4-4-2, you need to have two midfielders that can either carry the ball or make line-breaking passes - both from deep.
Schniederlin and Sigurdsson are unable to do either.
Sorry but this is just a knee jerk reaction. He is going through a poor run of form and he was terrible yesterday along with every other outfield player in a blue shirt.
But Digne is a very good left back and you don't get to play for the teams he has done, including the world champions, if he was bang average.
Digne is a much better player when he has license to get forward and I believe he has been playing under orders recently. He is also better when he has Bernard in front of him and we saw signs last year of another Baines/Pienaar like relationship being formed. For me, that partnership needs to return and allowed to flourish.
He'll come good, of that I have no doubt.
In fairness it probably took 2 years of hard work to produce peak Baines and Pienaar. What we saw of Digne and Bernard was from a handful of matches together and I for one liked what I saw. Definitely something to work on.I hope you are right.
For me Digne and Bernard are so far behind peak Baines and Pienaar that it's no point in comparing.
The few chances we actually do create most often comes from the right side with Sidibe/Walcott.
Our leftside was much more productive with Baines in the side so I don't understand why he was suddenly dropped
Wouldn't you get disheartened when you're given the ball from your goalkeeper and get pressed and the only people you can give it to in midfield can't control the ball and on the odd chance they do aren't capable of turning around with it
I sure would
source?Names mentioned for confronting CA sunday were Delph and Digne
he had a great season last year, has his own song - big wow, he needs to start stepping himself up this season
You might have to ask his missusI know this is ludicrous but does anyone think the fact he has a newborn since the start of the season has affected his performance..
I don't understand why Bernard has been dropped so often. Him and Digne linking up was one of the best aspects of our play last season.
Yeah I guess maybe when you think it through... think it's the City thing that's made it seem like he's been "back" but not playing for AGESInjury had him out for weeks (Since Brighton).
Naturally came back on the bench. Was due to start at City but had to pull out due to Mina hitting him in the warm up, back to recovery on the bench.
Hasn't been dropped so to speak
