When men were men ,we had no substitutes and the first team played every game .Now that was football when the laces hurt as you headed the ball. None of this dropping in agony when someone touches you on the shoulder . The best Everton teams I have seen would all be sent off in today's game .Merry Xmas all.
Jimmy Gabriel says hi.

Not for me, no changes to that back 4 for now.

I agree at the moment, don’t think you should drop players in form, but if the current run comes to an end, teams get wise to this system and we have other players back then I think the best alternative would be digne back in and Godfrey moving to the middle. That might be preferable against teams who set up to defend as well as we’ll have more of the ball. Either way it’s a not a bad position to be in having six good first team defenders at the club to choose your back four from.

Digne is out for about 8 weeks is he not.

He’s a world class player so he has to come back into the team. Saying that though it’s a difficult conversation to have with Godfrey or Holgate because they’ve been two of our best players in the last three games. We do look a better team with Godfrey’ space and height in it. Maybe we’ll even see Digne further forward giving Richarlison a rest in some games.
The 2 David’s, moyes & Unsworth love this

It's funny, but if people are going to suggest our most creative player, James, might not have a place in the side for reasons of balance, then Digne has a real battle on to get back in as a defender who doesn't actually defend. At least we all know what James is in the team to do: attack. If an attacking player can be left out for not doing enough defending, I'm not sure anybody could complain if a defending player is left out for not doing enough defending.

Not that I agree with any of this nonsense, by the way. James is, by some distance, our best player. His understanding with Digne is central to what makes and will make Everton oh so easy on the eye.
