I wish all the squad was this fella. I watch all the footy with two untied fans and they think he's the best in league at LB!

He's at his peak and the only player that clubs would splash the cash on. If you find the rare RS fan they know Digne would make that Scottish pub fella look a joke!

Wasn’t Holgate a RB when he got his first runout with us?

Yeah think he was, but definitely for me a centre half, in fact when you think of it, we have an embarrassment of riches at centre half, Keane, Mina, Holgate, Godfrey and coming through, Branthwaite. Looking strong there, our defence for me, Godfrey on the right, Digne on the left, Holgate centre back, with one of Mina/ Keane. Think Godfrey is a little, better and faster in the fullback role, rather than Holgate, just my opinion.

He's looked uncomfortable there so I'm inclined to say no despite what he offers in terms of recovery pace.

He looked uncomfortable in one game I think and very comfortable against Mane and Liverpool. No reason not to give him a run there, especially if we are going to play Rodriguez on the right, he's fast, powerful, aggressive and can tackle.

Well if Digne is back in at left back, does Godfrey move over to right back ?

Holgate is more comfortable at right - back than Godfrey when we need cover there. Going to be interesting how Ancelotti goes when Digne is back because he walks right back into the team. Keane is Ancelotti's first choice in the middle, and with Coleman back it will be one of Godfrey, Mina or Holgate to partner Keane.

Holgate looks more assured there if we're going to swerve Coleman.

Honestly though I'd be looking to slot Godfrey into one of the two CB slots if one of Keane/Mina gets injured, suspended or drops off in form.

He’s a centre back, we bought him as a centre back and should concentrate on developing and giving him game time there.

Fine in an emergency but he’s not a right back or a left back. We should be concentrating fully on getting proper cover at both fullback positions so that if Coleman/Digne are out we have players who Carlo can slot in rather than what we’ve seen the last couple of months - a revolving cast of personnel and systems trying desperately to find something that works.

That is what I’d hope. Nobody knows whether Godfrey is prepared to play in the center of midfield, but he definitely looks like the best man on man defender in the side. It wouldn’t hurt to try him there with Digne returning.

...I have no doubt Godfrey is the best CB at the club, we need to get him into that position ASAP. He’s not a RB, he’s certainly not a CM as he’s nowhere near comfortable enough in possession.

Playing him CB immediately makes us more secure when Digne or Coleman go forward.

Godfrey is a CB, it’s quite simple.

Keane and Mina though decent centre halves have one major flaw, lack of pace, we play too deep imo, when they are paired. One of them has to be sacrificed for Holgate or Godfrey.

Would like to see Keane & Godfrey given a run out together for a few games think they would compliment each other well.
