2021/22 Lucas Digne

Can’t believe how quickly so many people have turned on Digne in the last few days ?‍?

Shouldn’t they be turning into the manager whose defensively poor tactics has put us in this position?
Wouldn't take it too seriously. We got it with Lukaku too.

They're like jilted lovers, dishing out abuse towards him from behind their keyboards but secretly crying their eyes out that we're losing the best leftback in the league.

Chilwell, Robertson, Shaw, Cancelo and Tierney are all better than him. You could argue Reguilon and Alonso are too but I’d say at his best (last seen September 2020) Digne is better than those two and the rest of the dross in the league. I’d put him 6th on the list.

I feel like a parrot describing digne.
A defender who isnt actualy that good at defending. Is as slow as a barge.
Ok going forward when on song. But thats hit and miss.
Backs against the wall digging in for a result? He's one of the last i would rely on. In good company mind.

Could Digne be employed in the midfield somehow? Or is he doomed to be a left-back always?

He's a good player. A French international. I'm not sure how smart he is though.

He's been utter gack for 18 months but that's Benitez's fault apparently.

If you blame Benitez for everything then it just makes you look daft.
why not - those are actually the tactics Benitez himself employs, particularly with players and also other staff members it seems when he wants to drive them out.

What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Had some very good performances for us and is still a good player

Basically getting replaced because the manager doesn't like him

The Benitez Special

I was pushing for Tierney at the time and still wish we'd signed him instead, but I can't deny that Digne has been a darn good signing. Just a shame it has to end the way it's ending

Good luck to him and hopefully this Ukrainian lad delivers

A fair and balanced assessment
